Well it's a very nuanced answer. One argument I've heard is that gay men wouldn't be attracted to traps, which is valid but would then move people interested in traps into bi/pan territory rather than straight. In my opinion, if you're doing it for the dick, as in wanting to get fucked/want to focus on the dick, then yes, I think that's gay. If you're doing it and focusing on tits/ass/anything but the penis then it's not gay as the penis isn't being focused on but the feminine body parts are.

I'd like to point out though that the people who specifically go looking for trans girls and are exclusively into them are either bi, pan, or just gay in denial.
