I think a lot of the nastiness just comes from insecurity. It can take a long time to get over feeling insecure, and you may never totally get over it.

There's also the issue of being ashamed of being trans. That's the big one for me. I think I'm finally getting a handle on that. I'm not going to run around telling everyone I'm trans, but the self hate and avoidance of trans issues has hurt me even though I've been transitioned for years.

Anyway, I hope we can be nicer to each other. I'm not saying this board should be a giant hugbox - constructive criticism can be good at times - but there are so many people out there who hate us that we don't need to pile on.
