If you're looking into a potential explanation outside of "Muh social construction", it would seem intuitive to me that homophobia would make it more likely you would reproduce if you were a raging faggot. It would encourage you to have babies and not get aids from fucking dudes out of pure self-hatred. The reason people criticise others homosexuality also makes sense, discouraging homosexuality in the population and especially your family would also help promote genetic success.

This might also explain why the most passionate gay bashers are always found to be fucking Hispanic busboys on the side. The more homosexual you and your family are, the more you benefit reproductively from self-hatred and hatred of your family.

I don't buy for a minute that anti-homosexual attitudes are entirely societal, they're definitely largely societal, but it seems like gay bashing has been a constant throughout history and across societies.

Then why have humans evolved to be mostly hetero?

There are explanations beyond "gays are good for evolution" for why gays have evolved. E.G. a gene might be very good for making women attracted to men, while having the side-effect of making men attracted to men, but be a net evolutionary benefit all the same.

Then again it could actually be the case that a minority gay population is good for the species, but one could also postulate that because homophobia is so common it's also an evolved trait and thus must have a benefit itself.
