If you have already verified that the USB drive you are using is still working it would most likely either be a short in the wiring of the cable for the adapter or damage to the actual connector on one of the ends (oxidization, physical trauma, etc). If it is a short or cut in the wiring (caused by pulling on the cord instead of the connector to disconnect it) it could theoretically be fixed fairly easily, depending on where the short is and assuming you have rewiring tools.

Most likely you will just have to buy a new one tho. Make sure you eliminate the possibility of a bad USB port before you toss it though.
