Just the fact that your bodies masculinization is effectively halted is pretty much enough to ward off suicide for the most part.
Looking ugly obviously sucks but at least on HRT it's more of a matter of coming up with money for things like FFS. I'm not sure how people with huge linebacker bodies cope since I'm kind of small-bodied, but I'd imagine for them it's still a situation where at least masculinization has ceased.
Your bodies skeletal structure is constantly adjusting throughout life as well so at the very least at least from that point forward it will move to be more feminine. There's lots of small changes that make HRT worth it even if you don't pass in like the first 2-3 years or however long you need.
