It would depend on just how different education in Europe and America is then, and I don't really know.. In America getting degrees not related to your field is bad since you'll have to go back to school and do it all over again. Like if I majored in English and Psychology to just get any random degree I would need to redo all of my education in chemistry and biology and take many more advanced sciences classes to get into medical school.

yes, it's ok to do, as long as it's a *break*, not you quitting. I kinda did that this year after january. Only followed one class, which was enough to keep me in a routine (go to uni twice a week, study an hour every day), but nothing too heavy to actually stress me.
