>alot of people want to look/dress/act androgynous
>alot of people are attracted to androgyny

just fucking let people be this way openly already, its not that weird you fucks
>>
>>8153313
Hell yes I'm in.
>>
>>8153313
Yes yes yes yes.

>am masculine woman (not dyke, just muscular with "masculine" interests)
>unbelievably attracted to taller androgynous people

My dream is OP's dream
>>
>>8153313
No one cares how you look/dress/act. You're not a victim and it's weird to act like one.
>>
>>8153423
I see people get messed with and shit-talked all the time for how they look/dress/act, actually
>>
>>8153423
ding ding ding ding!

no ones saying you cant act/dress androgynously, just that its not a gender
>>
>>8153438
It's called being alive. People are going to hate you no matter what you do. That doesn't make you a victim.
>>
>>8153453
How fucking autistic are you, there are subjective and changeable mores related to what is and isn't acceptable to wear that your social life can depend on you fucking retarded neanderthal autist

I fucking hate morons like you with your petty "individualism solves everything BOOTSTRAPS" mindset

>have crush on cute andro bald grill I've worked with for 3-4 years
>when we were alone she asked me about how I "identify" out of the blue one day but then someone else came so I just pretended I was a regular old straight guy

sigh it feels so weird but I really am drawn to boyish girls and girly boys
>>
>>8153464
Your social life is your choice. You are restricting yourself. You are not the victim.
>>
>>8153476
Nobody is calling anyone a victim here you stupid fucking idiot, OP is wishing for mores to change, end of story. Stop preaching at everything you ANNOYING FUCK!!!
>>
>>8153485
OP is arguing it's not weird making them out to be victims. They are not victims and you're allowed to be as andro as you want. Maybe people don't like you because you rage over nothing not because of how you dress? You can't force people to like you. If you don't like your mores then find people that like you instead of trying to be the victim in a community that doesn't.
>>
>>8153509
How can you be this autistic, it boggles my mind

If looking how you want boggles your mind it must not take much. Self repress on victim hero!
>>
>>8153509
Go away
>>
>>8153558
No, it's you being so autistic and single-minded in your need to preach against victim complexes that you're making them up. OP wants androgyny to be an acceptable social more. That is it. End of story. Go away.
>>
>>8153509
If you could read OP post and not see that it was pretty much a light-hearted invitation to talk about fun androgyny related things then you are an autist and also you have nothing to contribute to this androgyny thread

What is not socially acceptable about androgyny?

similar feels here. The first time someone asked me what my pronouns were I went full spaghetti and just said I didn't care (which I don't really) but I'd never been asked that by someone. That was like 5 years ago by now and I hadn't encountered anyone who was open to that kind of stuff until very recently.

I made a group of IRL friends recently who are really positive about androgyny and different gender expression and styles and whatnot, feels really good to hang out with a big group of people and just dress and act how I want and also see them dressing in interesting styles you don't normally see and going by different names/pronouns and such if they want to. Feels comfy, I've never had that feeling before where I don't feel like I have to hide or repress anything
>>
At what point am I, AMAB, obligatedto wear a bra when shirtless? A cup currently.
>>
>>8153608
I am androgynous faggot. Oh no the gay community doesn't like us I'm crying already
>>
>>8153619
Meh, I'd say it's not obligatory now (or ever tbqh). Do you like bras or do you just want to shield peoples' eyes from your nips?

>What makes you think 2 + 2 = 4, come on now, you're being crazy. XD
>>
>>8153618
that sounds pretty nice

where/how did you end up meeting them?
>>
>>8153695
I started going to college. I'm 30, finally got in a situation where I can be attending school. I joined the club for LGBT people and they ended up being a really friendly bunch and a mixture of cis and trans people. They're all younger than me but they're fun to hang out with. It's just refreshing to be fully accepted and have 0 things to hide or explain even if most of our interests are kind of different and there's a bit of a generation gap. And there seems to be an unspoken understanding among all of them that it's cool to just call one another up and ask to go places together just for the sake of safety/protection.

I didn't know what to expect from a LGBT club I was afraid it was going to be a bunch of memes and selfish people but everything went better than expected.
>>
>>8153733
Memes are an alt-right thing. What made you think you'd find any of that out in reality?
>>
>>8153777
Inexperience with doing things in big groups and with university students.
>>
>>8153808
No no no, you misunderstand what I mean.

Alt-right never tells the truth, and alt-right told you to expect memetastic meme memes. Why did you choose to believe them?
>>
>>8153827
Ahh I see.

It's not quite like that. I've mostly stopped coming to 4chan since it started getting taken over by /r9k/ and /pol/ types over the past several years. I just wasn't sure of what I was going to find. I wasn't thinking I was gonna meet actual meme people but I thought it might be a really cliqueish group who are judgemental, and that I wouldn't fit in with them, because I have become accustomed to never fitting in anywhere (IRL I'm usually the weird one of the group hiding my power level, on 4chan I'm too liberal, on tumblr I'm too 4chan, etc)
>>
>>8153852
It's exactly like I said, I've been on 4chan for over 9 years and it was always like this, and tl;dr
>>
>>8153858
I've been on 4chan for like 12 years now and I have no energy to discuss whether or not 4chan was always this or that. From my perspective it got alot more /pol/ and nothing is left of what I originally liked about this site but I don't really care anymore
>>
>>8153871
What was the political climate of 4chan like when you first started using it?
>>
>>8153876
It was ordinary Republican children being "ironically" far right.

You no what the difference is between an ordinary Republican child being "ironically" far right, and an alt-right child being "ironically IRONICALLY" far right?

One takes 2 Ritalin pills illegally before he votes for some authoritarian, and the other takes 10.
>>
>>8153876
when I found 4chan as a high school freshman in 2006 it wasn't political at all
icanhascheesburger lolcats
boxxy, nudes and porn were the biggest things going and /b/ was king and "the cancer killing 4chan" invading every board with nonsense

the most it even delved into stuff like that was taking some stand against scientology and moving on to hacking as Anonymous/Legion and at one point Anonymous was thought to have been coopted by the CIA
call me a conspiracy theorist but somewhere along the way I'm sure someone took to influencing the general climate of the site to the point where you can find /pol/ and political threads on literally every board today...
>>
>>8153876
My perspective is skewed usually by the fact that I never was or have been a /b/tard, when it was way slower I posted there from time to time but most of my activity was always on other boards. In these kinds of discussions I think people who were /b/tards usually have a different take on it than I do. Just prefacing with that since usually it seems /b/ is what was always attracting new people in which just created kind of a shitposting snowball effect.

And I'm gonna be tl;dr because that's just how I am at the moment

Polticial climate back then felt alot more carefree. There was some conservative bent since it's always been nerdy white boys, but there wasn't so much kneejerk reaction to liberalism. I feel like there was a more anarchistic or libertarian sort of way of things (I don't know shit about politics, excuse my loose application of terminology), overall 4chan felt like a collection of misfits or all kinds, liberal, conservative, apolitical, whatever, who enjoyed absurd shit and mischevious things and was not very oriented toward pushing any political agendas aside from the pursuit of comedy. People were even nicer to female anons back then. They'd get memed on with no girls on the internet stuff but it was in good fun and people were just joking. Things started getting political around the time of the scientology shit, which I think was in like...06 or so (I could be pretty off, I was trying to ignore it). All the scientology people were newfags in my eyes, the guy fawkes thing got bigger, PUA shit got bigger, /r9k/ got added sometime in '08 and (for me) things deteriorated seriously from there. The site's different now, I'm over it, "newfags" as a concept is laughable to me now and has been for years. When I look back on the stuff that made me laugh back in the day, the humor is super cingey and basic compared to now, but whatever, it was good times back then.
>>
>>8153900
Yes this. I'm >>8153904 and I am very much from the "generation" of users who would have said that /b/ was the cancer killing 4chan

Way to sum up everything I said so much more succinctly

Also something I find funny is somehow advicedog, pinnacle of shitposting for its time, which I hated at its inception, turned into the template for everything people call a "meme" now. I stubbornly said "image macros" for a long time and refused to post advicedog-derived images even though format wise theyre almost the same damn thing as demotivationals. Also now I give 0 shits and finally enjoy nonsense and people going off topic. It's a refeshing break from the political shit
>>
>>8153900
>when I found 4chan as a high school freshman in 2006 it wasn't political at all

Yeah, that's why the straight dog shit made "lel fag" it's official slogan. Because the straight dog shit wasn't being political.
>>
Actually I'm just gonna keep bitching and reminiscing ITT, feels good man.

I used to be super butthurt when the fucking trollface shit started. People used to collaboratively joke with eachother all the time, people would post an obviously fictional thing and everyone would play along and add to it. Then people started in like "obvious troll is obvious" which has evolved into the "bait" images to the point that there was no more collaborative joke storytelling (not sure what else to call it) because nobody could post something silly and fictional without someone immediately labeling it as a "troll post". I think what ended up filling that void was the devlopment of greentext stories, since people have ended up telling really elaborate absurdist greentexts and when done in that format people dont feel the need to call them out for "bait"/"trolling" etc as often. I don't know. it's all reaching the point now where I feel like there's countless endless cycles of the same thing and I'm too far from the center anymore anyway.

90% of people already dress somewhat androgynously. Do you not see how faggy most men are, and how masculine most women are?
You "abolish gender roles" people have already won. Just go away now.

And if I don't then what can you do about it other than throw a hissy fit on the LGBT board on 4chan.

As Smashing Pumpkins twat vocalist once said in a bad Russian accent "despite all your rage you are still just rat in cage."

I've known friends beaten up by cops for looking trans (when they were actually cis but andro), banned from Primark for shopping in the womens' section while looking like a flamer, etc etc. in the UK.
>literally "it's 2017!!!! you have gay marriage what more do u need!!!"
>>
>>8154234
This. People get treated badly for this and if it's not shit like getting beaten up they at least get made fun of and still get called faggots, dykes, trannies, etc. whether it's for how they're dressed, or because they simply like androgynous people. (Real example: straight couple but the girl is very androgynous, people yelling "faggots!" at them and throwing shit at them is...not an issue? wat. why do you want to live in a society where people are still yelling faggot and throwing shit at people? Sure it's not life threatening but it's certainly something we can all do without, and would benefit actual faggots as well as transgender people and people who just look androgynous.)

>>8154161

People coming in here essentially to say "deal with it" is pointless. People who want to talk about this issue and who are affected by it IRL are not going to be persuaded by some random anon saying "u mad?" because it doesn't stop the fact that this is an IRL issue for some people, whether you want to believe that or not.

And OP's wording is clearly a joke (probably trying to imitate the way the people in the OP image talk, if you've seen that vid), although it's expressing a sincere idea.
>>
>>8154234

OV got beat up for being trans while dressed as a guy and later committed suicide.

Robin is right on this one. Being a tranny a shit.
>>
>>8155423
>People get treated badly for this

The reason more people should present as androgynous is to change this.
Gay men used to get beaten up a lot just for being gay but the gay rights movement in the 70s and 80s made more people aware of gays and let them know that we are your brothers, uncles, fathers, friends and neighbors.

We need to make people feel more comfortable and less threatened by androgynous people.

We do that by letting them know that androgynous presenting people are not serial killers (as they appear in (((hollywood))) movies) rather they are good people just trying to live their lives.

If normies stop fearing androgyny then they will stop being afraid and no longer feel the need to murder us.

artists like david bowie and conchita wurst have devoted their lives trying to make androgyny more widespread and acceptable and we should applaud their efforts.

i know it is trendy on this board to call androgyny "degenerate" and to insist that binary is the only true expression of sexuality, but in the real world things are not black and white: there is a profusion of gray areas.
>>
>>8154234
>banned from Primark for shopping in the womens' section
Liar. Anybody can buy from any section.
>>
>>8155495
Great post honestly

I see no need to call out people who are prviliged enough to dress androgynously and be safe (which is pretty much celebrities, and the tumblr kids people here like to hate on). In real life they are often likeable or at least reasonable people, and they are creating visibility and spaces for people who are not as privileged, and really, that's how things get done. The only other way to dress androgynously is if you are brave enough or desparate/crazy enough to deal with the shit that people will give you for it in less safe places.

Some of us are fortunate enough to live in a place where we aren't going to get messed with but many people are not, and yet they still would be happier dressing and expressing themselves how they want to. So it's the privileged, the brave, the crazy, and the desparate people with nothing to lose who are going to be paving the way by creating visibility. And because you have to be privileged, brave, desparate or actually crazy to do that, you're going to come across like an attention whore or mentally ill to outsiders. But oh well. I for one admire people who have the balls to go for it in unsafe situations, even if they actually are an attention whore or mentally ill. That's how change happens.
