I always felt like I had everything figured out and didn't understand the whole 'finding your true identity men's and now I'm 18 and am barely coming to terms with being trans which a year ago I hadn't even considered as something serious. I always just ignored it. It is strange.

I'm 26 and I'm still not really comfortable with calling myself bisexual even though that's clearly what I am.

I didn't admit my attraction to other guys until I was 24, not even to myself. This is a process that people go through, it's not a goal that you have to achieve.

There's a pretty good little movie (It's Robin Williams' last movie actually) called Boulevard about a 60 year old man who leaves his wife and finally comes out of the closet, and that's not exactly unheard of. Try not to focus too much on "coming out too late" - I know I did and it just caused a lot of internal grief.

Don't worry about how long it takes you as long as you're comfortable with what you're doing and who you're seeing.

Speaking from personal experience, I feel like people usually have a lot of mental layers that obscure their sexuality and its only after a great deal of self reflection that they come to an answer.

You might be able to relate to this story then again you might not, but I'll tell it anyway. When I was younger around 12-13 and first discovered porn I had not interest in anyone I'd even met so I was somewhat surprised to find that I liked the het-porn I was seeing. Being male I assumed it was the female. I looked up lesbian porn and found it completely uninteresting. So then I thought I might be gay and looked up gay porn, but I found that "gross". Well, I said to myself I obviously just like straight stuff so I need to get a girlfriend. Fast forward to first girlfriend at 18, first and only girl I could ever stand to be romantic with. When we went to have sex everything worked as it as supposed to but afterward I just kept feeling like something was really wrong and that I didn't enjoy it anywhere near as much as I thought I would. I met some guys that were interested in me and the way they talked to me excited me unlike my female partner ever could but when they touched me I felt incredibly gross and backed out. By this time I was 21 and still had no idea what I liked despite being in a long term relationship with my female partner. Eventually, I came to the conclusion I was trans, though that revelation was unrelated to my sexuality. Finally at 23 I started feeling better about myself and almost like magic I suddenly realised that all the hang ups I had about sex with both guys and girl were actually hang ups with myself.

I'm now proud to say that I'm easily bi and know exactly who I like, but as I said that revelation took 23 years and I still haven't done all the things I would like to try.

So take it easy and don't rush into things.

It happened to me twice: 1st time with a girl, 1st time with a guy (no problem later with each of them). So I'm pretty it's just anxiety relative to "performing well", or lack of trust in your partner, or some shit like that.

Surprise, there are various types of people in this world. Some develop new aspects of their desires early and some later.

It's not abnormal to question ones sexuality even as a 30 or 40 year old. Believe it or not people grow and develop, questioning is generally part of that process.

My less objective commentary however: people who figure it out early are either simple people or their desires are just that concrete. Again, different kinds of people.
