He didn't advocate for pedophilia or illegal sexual contact with a minor. It's all a complete myth that's been used for a witch hunt.

What he did say, if you listen to the original conversation, and remove the jokes, the sardony, the insincere/sarcastic, obviously not meant to be taken at face value, statements, was a nuanced and complex view of adolescent sexuality and agency, that i seriously doubt you or anyone else would contradict. Talking about it is usually totally shunned precisely because of shit like this happening.

He thought he was able to hack it, but that topic is the third rail of public life in the USA across the board, and he got burnt. Him being a douchebag meant he had zero goodwill to fall back on; when the NY Times is willing to lie about you, you truly are alone in the media world.

The George Takei thing is similar in some ways, but not in the ways that are actually bad about what Milo did.
They both joked about relationships they had with older guys when they were teens. The issue is that Milo was actively encouraging that sort of thing and claiming it was a positive experience. Milo also talked about attending parties involving underage boys with older guys and didn't report them to the authorities.
