I don't know what to say, I'm a European Muslim and I'd like to think I've integrated pretty well, to clear it up I'm actually a cultural Muslim, so I like giving to charity, and studying my heritage, but don't actually practice the faith (I'm gay so obviously).

Santiago (Chile's capital) it's the best and the worst place to live. It has everything, specially if you want to know the "lgbt scene", but it's also really impersonal and the "good" places to live are quite expensive. Also Santiaginos are known to be shitty people overall, and pretty much everyone else hates them (but desu they aren't that bad).
Other big cities (like Concepción or Valparaiso) have their charm, and also has a decent amount of activities regarding the LGBT community or anything else you wanted to do, but not as much as Santiago. The pros of those cities is that people isn't as shitty as the average santiagino, and there's some "local identity" going on.
Any other city is gay hell, specially the southern ones which are known to be conservative as fuck (just like murrika!). Perhaps Punta Arenas and the people who live in that region (chile is divided in 15 regions and that one is the southest one) is different in that regard, but that's because people from that region in particular are different from anything you could find in any other chilean city.
The north isn't that much of a "gay hell" as the south. Iquique (one of the most northern cities) has plenty of gay bars and a history with being a "gay friendly" city (a bunch of gays were imprisoned in the north during the conservative regime of Carlos Ibaez del Campo in the 40s and 50s. Later they were released in the closest cities, one of them being Iquique). They even elected a lesbian mayor and nobody gave a fuck about it (the funniest thing about that is that she ran representing one of the most, if not the most, conservatives chilean parties, UDI).
I have noticed that the cities that have beaches are way more liberal and gay friendly than the ones that doesn't. I don't know what this happens, but it probably has something to do with growing up going to the beach almost every day and having no problems with showing yourself half naked and that sort of stuff.

but i think the western worlds involvement there is ineffective in causing peace in the region, and is further radicalizing the populace. the Iraq war was a monumental mistake, when all is said and done it'll be $7 trillion spent, and nothing was gained apart from ISIS now performing global attacks.
