It can come with being afraid of displaying feminine behaviors or the effects of displaying them being linked to emasculation (ie someone calls you a girl for having certain GNC characteristics.) Things like having a small dick can also trigger this: one feels like less of a man, but instead of flatly accepting it, one fetishes it so they can express their inadequacy during fetish sessions in which they let go of this stored anxiety and therefore come back to normal.

But yeah the trauma can come from either imprinting or constant fear of being or being seen as effeminate, usually if you have effeminate characteristics, although people who live in very rigid environments could develop it anyways, specially if they have paranoid personality traits.
