That's what you get with a larger population and illegals using your healthcare services and not paying into the system among other things.

As a Canadian, I can say the system is nearly broken in areas, especially rural areas in the East where there's one doctor in a massive area, there are not enough doctors and it's incredibly common to wait 4+ hours in the ER for something like a sprain. Health care costs in Canada are increasingly, by a great deal, faster than the U.S for sure.

It's just government expenditure, which you could assume is at least correlated to total taxation, although the US does also pile on more debt than every country listed in that pic as well. So perhaps in one sense the Healthcare system is less taxing on the citizens simply because the US has less incentive to care about their debt compared to other countries.
