fem that wants to take spiro but not estrogen. what effects will it have on me?
Bad times. Look into taking raloxifene along with your Spiro. Without a hormone you'll get osteoporosis, depression, lack of energy, and you'll have a horrible metabolism. Look into serms. Check hrtgen and femgen.

Rat poison I hear also can increase estrogen 500% no side effects. It has to be taken 7 g per day.

Get your queer ass away from my manga
You can't be on just spiro longterm. You need a hormone. However it's okay as an early step in HRT.
I've been on just spiro for three months, since I have a blood condition and my doctor wants me to see my hematologist about treatment before he prescribes me estrogen. However it's taking a little while to get in to see him. We're expecting to get me on estrogen within the next couple months. I could selfmed but I'm worried about stroke risk due to my blood condition. Longterm, being on just anti-androgens will lead to osteoporosis. It's okay in the short term though. Also, I've talked to my doctor about switching to cypro and he said if my T levels don't drop below 3 on spiro, he'll switch me over to Cypro, which is a far more effective drug.
Okay, so I take 250mg spironolactone daily:
Good:
- My face has softened a lot, and I've had some fat redistribution
- My skin has gotten softer and smoother
- leg and arm hair is much thinner. I shave them now because it's less of an ordeal than it used to be
- I've been losing muscle mass, especially in my back and shoulders
- Overall body shape looking more feminine
- I have developed small breast buds
- Body odor smells very different, more of a sweeter scent
Bad:
- No major breast or hip changes like I'll likely get once I'm on estrogen
- Low energy
- I have to pee all the time
- I feel fatigued often
- I have to avoid potassium in large amounts
- I feel more like a eunuch than a girl
Meh:
- I crave salt
- My libido has dropped. Also while I still have some sexual function, I can get erect (barely), I have a hard time coming to orgasm now
Long story short, it's okay to go on just spiro for a bit but it is not a long term solution. I'm counting the days until I get my blood condition treated and I get my estrogen prescription.

You can use phytoestrogens to prevent side effects just like menopausal women do. I know a few people that do that
