I think non-binary is just the new thing that teenage and 20-something year old girls have latched onto to seem cool. They almost always never understand the difference between gender expression and the concept of gender itself. Wearing different clothes one day doesn't suddenly make you a new gender.
If you were born male, how would you look non-binary?

Because women have a bit more freedom in their gender expression than men do. Nobody really bats an eye at a woman with short hair wearing men's pants, but a man with long hair in a skirt will cause problems.

technically, 'only' 80% are women
my estimate from knowing a lot of people who call themselves non-binary is that 75% are not trans, ~25% are trans and mislabelling themselves, and <1% (if any, i waver back and forth on this but know some people who can currently be best described this way) can be accurately described as having a neuter gender identity
i used to assume the neuter gender identity thing was pretty legit, but after realizing 'nonbinary truscum' was by far the most common identification of now-detransitioners i'm more suspect
