Clubs in general are losing business due to tinder and grindr. It's a failing business model.
Pubs on the other hand are supposedly gaining in popularity and many clubs are switching to pub type resteraunts during the daytime hours and switchover to clubs during the later hours.
But even then people just prefer going online for sex, clubs were always just an overly elaborate way to get casual sex and now people have found a better way. Just free market in action.

Consider the following...

When naturally occurring sexual subcultures are forced to repress their identity this often manifests with an over sexualisation off the subculture. As being gay is a sexual identity it is only logical that as it has become more shortly acceptable to be gay that there would be facilities to assist with expression. However as The sexual identity is normalised in society there is less need for repression and therefore no need for the sub culture to essentially vent their sexuality. This leads to a down turn in need for the facilitation of sexual expression.

To give a similar example, as it has become more normalised to be MtF, AGP has started to become seen as a separate sub culture. However in the days of societal repression you might argue that being AGP was the norm for all MtFs. Now it is merely the fetishist who remain AGP whilst those who are transgender, thanks to normalisation, no longer express their gender condition in an overly sexualised manner.

There seems to be a link between repression and sexualisation. But then again correlation does not imply causation.

What I think I see is a move to go from gay to 'gay friendly'.

This opens up clubs to do business with heteros.

The downside is that it seems to become a hen-fest because all the trendy straight girls want to show up for some reason.

I think maybe part of it is signalling how trendy they are with gays, perhaps feeling 'safe' around gay guys (even though strippers are typically straight) or simply as a way of testing control over their man by seeing if he will submit to being dragged into one.

I suppose. Its difficult not to think that dating apps are both reinforcing or even creating socially inept people. Real life interaction abilities do suffer when not practiced. It worries me a bit. Smartphones seem to be evolving into AI teddy bears for adults. The internet provides the simulation of intelligence and reply, while the users imagination constructs fantasy interaction, just like a child with a doll.

Its not to say they dont. Things are not always called what they are. For example, there has been a tremendous burst in asexual lifestyles. But people dont think of them that way. They just spend their life on porn and retain an identity of orientation.

Politicization also tends to muddle our language, sometimes deliberately. What homosexual is or isn't has only become more diverse. Substantial portions of the population globally still regard homosexuality as a genetic condition that lasts a lifetime only detectable through behavior and then applies forever then on. Much of the rest view it as simply something a person does, and then doesn't. It doesnt imply any particular commitment in identity or later choices.

Disclosure: I am looking at this through the lens of the SoBe area, so thats where my viewpoint is emanating from. If people in other large metro areas are seeing something different, do please correct me.

All I know is that they gay scene in Miami seems to have vastly shrunk. Many speculated reasons, some of it rumored to be a large commercial migration to Ft Lauderdale.
