The "First Amendment" bill and its support is proof that almost everyone hates us.
>>
Just to clarify, this doesn't legalize violence or anything. It just prevents another "BAKE THE CAKE" episode. Seems pretty reasonable to me.
>>
>>7445853
Hate is when someone ties you to the back of their truck and drags you down the street.
Not when you call someone a fag for being obnoxiously gay.
The most homophobic things I have ever read were on this board. The most homophobic things I've ever heard came from homosexual friends in real life.
Allowing straight people to say things they are thinking while homos are allowed to say them is not hate, it is equality
>>
>>7445872
I've never really understood that whole incident. If they dislike you enough that they don't want to serve you, why on earth would you want the government to force them to take your money?
>>
>>7445900
I hope hiro personally comes to your house and destroys your computer, since there's apparently no other way of getting rid of you.
>>
>>7445926
why is cancerposter not permabanned yet?
>>
>>7445951
He just evades
>>
>>7445853
>opposition to forcing people at threat of gunpoint to serve us in ways that violate their conscience or religious beliefs is proof almost everyone hates us
why are gays so retarded and paranoid when it comes to politics?
>>
>>7445872
>>7445891
Why is only homophobia protected?
Proof that they hate mainly us
You're lying to yourself if you think you don't care about that truth
>>
>>7446003
>extreme muslim
"women can't manage money, so we're not serving women"

>extreme mormon
>"the races shouldn't mix, this store is whites only"

Yeah, conservatives are really into protecting religious freedom as a moral, not just when it's politically expedient.
Nice job with the whole "the government cannot prioritize one religion over the other" thing that's in the constitution.
>>
>>7446005
Honestly businesses should be able to refuse to deal with people for any reason whatsoever including race, sex, etc. However that ship has sailed. But it's still better not to continue expanding these laws to new groups.
>>
>>7446018
THIS
>>
>>7446016
Yes extreme Muslims and Mormons should be able to do that. Their businesses would not do well thankfully since they are cutting off a large portion of their potential clientele and offending much of the rest of them.
>>
>>7446027
Yup. I agree. It would only be discrimination against LGBT that is accepted and excused. They all hate us and we have no power in numbers.
>>
>>7445891
the issue isn't really cake shops, it just played out there because the people who make enough money to pursue these court cases don't have actual strife in their lives.

the problem is that in many american cities and towns large sections of the minority and white poor populations are served by only a few essential services. what would happen if, say, one or several of the private bus lines that run in LA decided that they would bar anyone visibly LGBT? that would completely cut transit access to large amounts of desperately poor LGBT people.

this already plays out in a very acute way for transgender job seekers. a significant proportions of firms polled have straight up admitted that they would prefer a less qualified cisgender candidate, and the group is generally hard to protect with antidiscrimination laws, so as a result transgender people as a group experience wildly high rates of desperate poverty.
>>
>>7446042
Or people with health insurance that only covers one or two doctors in their reasonable area, and one of those decides they aren't treating LGBT?

Like gay marriage, this is treated by many as just a social/ego thing when it's quite economic.
>>
>>7446042
No large business would openly discriminate like that though, at least not work their goods/services. They only care about your money. Even "pray the gay away" chik fil-a serves gays.
This is a law that affects small, often family run businesses and forces people to choose between their beliefs and their livelihood.
>>
>>7446058
Doctors can't opt out of treating a patient. Hippocratic oath.
>>
>>7446071
Yeah large businesses would. Most people don't care about gays that much. They may not discriminate openly against black or women but gays are still pretty trendy to hate on.

I agree that it would be better for people to just move on to another bakery, but I also disagree that people should be given exceptions to follow a law or not based on their religious beliefs that others aren't given based on either a different set of religious beliefs or non-moral beliefs in general.
If they hate gays that much, take their money and go donate the profits to Exodus international or something.
>>
>>7446074
People can't currently legally opt out of serving a customer because of some immutable trait. If one changes, the other can. Some doctors may argue they should have "religious freedom".
>>
>>7445891

Because it's about spitefully lashing out at innocent people, not securing your civil rights.

The cake shit was basically gay terrorism. You'll notice that gays don't terrorize very well, so this is the best they've got.
>>
>>7446042
>visibly LGBT

lol
>>
>>7446157
Doctors have been swearing the same oath for literally thousands of years. They're even expected to treat the enemy soldiers in a war. Medicine is a matter of life and death.
20 years ago a baker could refuse their services to anyone for any reason. BAKE THE CAKE is a product of cancerous PC culture. It's a matter of freedom vs muh feelings, and if you believe muh feelings are more important you don't belong in the united states in the first place.
>>
>>7446071
i literally just told you that a majority of firms surveyed, which were mostly large businesses, declared that they would take a less qualified candidate to avoid a transgender candidate. your post is very much not reflective of reality.

>>7446074
do you sincerely believe this? because doctors' ability to heal people effective is demonstrably affected their own biases; medical malpractice and violence absolutely falls along racialized and gendered lines. doctors aren't fucking magic anti-prejudice wizards.

>>7446192
hey, remember how the field of mental health originated in a push to scientifically confirm racist presumptions? remember that whole fucking thing called phrenology? your beliefs are absolutely not borne out by reality lmao
>>
>>7446018
>>7446021
That's illogical. Either all groups should be protected against discrimination, or no groups should be.
>>
>>7446074
So how do you explain those women who have died due to religious hospitals being unwilling to perform a life-saving emergency abortion?
>>
>>7446192
If the best example of freedom they can come up with is to discriminate against gays, that seems to me like a pretty good argument AGAINST freedom.
>>
>>7446997
No groups should be. But society won't go along with that.

I also think all drugs should be legal, but I know there's no chance of that. If I took your approach I would say "Either all drugs should be legal or none of them should!" and try to stop marijuana from being legalized since it's 'unfair' to people with other drug habits.

We should take freedom wherever we can get it and not try to limit it further to be 'fair'.
>>
>>7445891
Let's pretend if you replaced the word "gay" with "black". Imagine if a black (cisgender and straight) couple went to a bakery shop to buy a cake for their wedding. And the white store owner refused to serve them, stating that their quote-unquote "sincere religious beliefs" doesn't allow them to serve black people. There would be a massive outrage from everyone, not only the liberals and SJWs.

TL;DR everyone deserves to be treated equally. "Seperate, but equal" doesn't work, no matter how hard you try to legitimize it.
>>
>>7446948
>majority of firms surveyed, which were mostly large businesses, declared that they would take a less qualified candidate to avoid a transgender candidate

do you have citation for that?

I'd be happy to see the repeal of most anti-discrimination laws in this area. I shouldn't be forced to sell my goods or labor to someone I don't want to.
>>
>>7447142
>TL;DR everyone deserves to be treated equally.
Why?
>>
>>7447142
You don't have a right to the product of other people's labor unless they choose to sell it to you. Period.
>>
>bourgies steal people's labor
>get all pissy when someone feels they are entitled to buy the product of that stolen labor

kek
Fucking capitalists
>>
>>7447436
Not them but how does that surprise you? Would you really need a citation for that when it's pretty damn apparent?

Most employers would almost certainly consider trans candidates to be a potential liability and would rather avoid hiring one despite all the politically correct bullshit lip service they put out. Think about it from their perspective. There's the stereotypes, then the subconscious bias most people have against trannies. This is especially true in customer service type jobs where PR and putting out an agreeable face to interact with customers is inportant. In the majority of cases, employers would rather take a slightly less experienced cis girl over a more experienced trans girl. Then you have the bathroom nonsense to consider along with the potential lawsuit if someone gets bitchy about pronouns and shit.
>>
>>7445853
It will pass. The old die and the new stay.

The ideals conservatives cling onto so fiercely won't travel through their semen if they somehow manage to find someone who can bear them enough to have kids with them. In the end, society is a bigger shaping force and right now, even with a full Republican government, society is on our side.
>>
>>7450953
I don't know... if old ideas are supposed to die out with the older generation, then why do archaic things like religion still exist? I think tradition manages to survive and maintain its existence throughout time by social and cultural conditioning. It's no surprise that conservative people are more likely to get married and produce offspring. And those conservative parents will likely brainwash and train their kids into thinking the same way they do. And the process repeats itself every generation. Liberals and enlightened progressives on the other hand, breed at a much lower rate. Hence why human society in general won't radically change that much within the span of one lifetime.
>>
MTF here, I support it, it's people's right to deny service to whoever they like dumbass
>>
>>7446166
Expecting people to obey the law isn't ``terrorism". If your religion prevents you from doing your job properly, you should get another job, or go on disability.

>>7447492
They're the vast majority of civilized countries. When the main people defending freedom of association are those who want to use it to justify racism, people will quickly start to think that freedom of association isn't that important anyways.

>>7447925
Then don't put yourself in a position where you're selling things. NO ONE is forcing you to sell things, all they're requiring is that if you sell things you don't discriminate against people.

>>7447930
Why shouldn't they? Equality is the "default" state, philosophically speaking; if one person deserves rights and the other doesn't, you have to have a reason to justify that, otherwise they aren't rights at all.

>>7448537
You don't have a right to discriminate against peopel. Period.

>>7452087
So you're okay with having to travel 50 miles to get your hormones because all the locals think trans is degeneracy and normalizing mental illness?
>>
>>7455376
I order them online, it is a mental illness
>>
>>7455397
So you think doctors should be able to refuse to treat patients because they don't like them or something?
>>
Freedom of speech, expression, and thought are some of the most important things in the world, kiddo. Disagreeing with someone doesn't make them a Nazi or anything. Just means you don't think the same way.
>>
Y'know, if we hadn't stirred the shit pot about the bathroom thing, we wouldn't even be having these retarded conversations.
>>
>>7445891
There's faggots off this board who literally want to force people to like them. They're mentally ill and can't fathom someone disagreeing with their "life"style.

This isn't just about disagreeing. It's ensuring that people who enact harm on others at least have a chance of facing the consequences of their actions.

>>7455715
This isn't about forcing people to like us, it's about forcing people to follow the law and stop harming their fellow citizens, if they're unwilling to do so. Such is the foundation of civil society.

>>7455752
And what's wrong with being a commie, Mr. McCarthy?

Anon, my man. You know both national socialism and communist are based on marxism right?

National socialism just adds a racial spin to it. Just replace the jews with smart, and rich people and you got communism.

>>
>>7455883
>You know both national socialism and communist are based on marxism right?
Uh, not really. I don't know much about the beliefs of say Mussolini, but Hitler was strongly opposed to marxism/Communism, and the Nazis pushed the propaganda idea that Marxism was an anti-Western Jewish plot. The Nazis were much bigger on the nationalism part than on the socialism part, the latter was really only to get the support of the working class and justify the war economy. The main similarity is that they were both totalitarian dictatorships, their actual ideologies were pretty much opposed to each other.

>The "First Amendment" bill and its support is proof that almost everyone hates us.
>one tiny bill is irrefutable proof that almost everyone hates us
Mate there's more than 2000 years of recorded history that irrefutable proof that almost everyone hates us.
In fact that should be enough to understand that we'll be hated for at least another 2000 years, if not more.
