Can someone explain drag queens to me?
From what I can tell their are two axii to drag, campiness and sluttyness. What do the queens get out of performing? What does the audience get out of it? Does this change depending on campiness/sluttyness?
I just don't get watching wanting to be a drag queen or wanting to watch one.

Seriously? It's, like, reality tv... of course it's undignified! Bitchy queens were the community's entertainment for decades before reality tv "real housewives" bullshit became mainstream.
Queen are popular for the same reason that reality tv is. Some queens mix that up with political or social satire and stand up comedy. Some are singers, or act in campy spoofs of things. They were the entertainment for the alphabet soup croup before any actor could play a gay character or come out of the closet at all.
