i just came out as ftm transgender to my parents because i want to transition soon
my mom is taking it okay. she doesn't approve really but she's got my back and she'll support me no matter what
my dad seemed okay when i talked to him, doesn't like it, doesn't approve, but didn't yell and we ended the conversation with a hug
he did however, yell at my mom. told her it was her fault for supporting me, and her fault for not letting him raise me how he wanted (even though she never did anything to stop him from doing what he wanted as a parent), and now he says that if i go through with this, he's going to divorce my mom and leave
did i do the right thing? is it really worth it? i don't know how i can deal with the guilt of knowing that i'm the sole reason my family is going to get torn apart

Yes, you did the right thing. If this incident really makes your parents divorce, chances are their marriage wasn't very strong to begin with. The first few weeks after coming out always suck ass, but hopefully the dust will settle and things will be okay.

yeah..i guess they don't have the best marriage, but i've always known that the only reason they stayed together through the rough parts was for me and my brother's sake, so it's just tough and i can't help but feel it's all my fault...like, i know i can make it through this...but for the time being i can't figure out how to not feel miserable. part of me is just thinking that i should have just gone on suppressing myself for the sake of my family..

i don't think so. she's a very level headed person, and she basically has the attitude of 'you're an adult, i trust you to do what you think is right.' like, when my dad got mad at her for supporting me, her response was 'well of course i do,' so i'm not worried with her
