The rules associated with the old testament, the rules that the Baptists use to be anti gay, are rules given to the ancient Hebrews to help them breed the army they'd need to conquer and preserve their homeland. Christians are told to go forth and be fruitful, yes, but the fruits are of the spirit, and can be obtained by being an example of faith and a blessing to those around you, not just by popping out soldiers for God.
