i looked at reddit once. there was this heavily upvoted post with like 250 points or something where this guy had posted his "fitness transformation".

over 4 years he had gone from very fat to slightly less fat. it was a terrible result, he had clearly made little to no progress.

I came here to begin with because /e/ and /h/ are the best places to find good hentai and in my agp degeneracy I came to this board hoping to get off and ended up realizing I was full-blown trans. I stay here because it's actually active, I'm sure I could find other active lgbt boards if I looked hard enough, but the lgbt communities on other websites like reddit are a lot smaller. I'm also not a fan of "safe space" rules, even though I doubt I'd ever actually break them, I just don't like having to worry about whether what I'm saying is ok or not.

I've been regularly using anonymous boards since I was 15-16, so it kinda feels like home. (though until recently I've mostly been using boards in my native language since 4chan is a bit too fast for me)
I also use reddit, but I don't like the rampant censorship, inability to stand controversial opinions and taking the idea of "safe spaces" to the extreme. Hell, I was banned without warning or explanation on one of the pro-trans subreddits for saying that not finding people of certain race sexually attractive wasn't racist and for suggesting that the Ferguson-like police brutality might be caused by US cops being too trigger happy and not by a racial bias(I'm not from the US).

Most non users of 4chan will tell you nobody really profits from anonimity but the most basic of trolls and that being anonymous is nice in concept but useless to all but dictatorship dwellers.
The truth is after staying there for some time, you start to need to censor yourself on other platforms.
Sexuality has a lot less taboos but most people will still shun you for the most out there fetishes like TPE or entomophilia.
What I came to consider friendly banter can get me banned on some sites even if I clearly point out it's sarcasm.
There are subjects I could never approach with a ten foot pole on a primary account. While I can stand the loggin bullshit for a single session, it's fucking tedious to track throwaway accounts.

And even after all that, all websites have their own ecosystem. 4chan has the advantage that the tradition of strife in all discussions prevents the ecosystem from crystallising into an immobile echochamber.
/pol/ posts are annoying, but the fear of polposting, people not actually from /pol/ but advocating against its boogiman status and actual polposts cover the whole range of approval and disapproval of this kind of shit.
Meanwhile on another platform, one side would eventually get banned and registered in the rules as not welcome and the site would become famous for not welcoming this side.

I had this childhood friend who I always hung out with. Around two years after I came out to her as ftm, right when I started T, she came out as something nonbinary she never really specified. It took me years of therapy to come to terms with me not having abused her emotionally, but it having been the case the other way round. Like when I got taken from my parents by police,- she ran in for a minute and was escorted out again before everything else about the whole process was in my hands, and years later, she'd constantly make demands that I stay at her place without leaving the house for weeks on end even, do her groceries, be quiet based on how she saved me from my parents. That might also be why she hated me and morally berated me daily for slowly rebuilding my relationship with them.
At least I'm finally at the point that I don't feel guilty anymore and instead glad it's over with.
