Some dubs are okay (Cowboy Bebop has a really good dub), but most are pretty low quality. Plus, it just feels a bit inauthentic to me to watch things in a language other than the original.

My only theory is that - like me - you start to recognize enough of the people to feel comfortable building a personality or at least a projected one. People start to feel like friends.
