What difference does it make having your birth certificate changed with or without SRS? When do you realistically present your birth certificate to anyone? If that's your view, it makes more sense to say you can't even get your driver's license changed until after SRS.

So you're saying HB2 was passed not to totally prevent the legal use of an opposite sex bathroom by a transgender person, but to protect cis women from badly written municipal laws that could allow just anybody to claim they are transgender? Do you really think that was their mindset as they wrote it and passed it? If that was it, they could have just passed a law with better definitions on what a transgender person is to better determine who is able to use a bathroom different from their biological sex. It would have automatically superseded any bad municipal law just like HB2 did, except it would be an actually good law.

If Blaire's ideas are the problem, criticise those. If they're so sloppy, it should be easy. Blaire is an individual, criticise her as such, instead of trying to read the minds of her 100K+ strong audience.

That's why diversity in opinions is important.

The only time this is a problem is, as I said, when people only have one specific understanding of what a trans person is, and that view isn't necessarily accurate. As it stands, the common view that's turning people off is the Tumblresque one, but what exactly the dominant view is is arbitrary. If Blaire types were the only trans people anyone knew existed, that'd be just as much a problem.
But that's still not anyone's fault for voicing what happens to be their opinion, it'd just mean more diverse trans people need to be free to make their own voices heard.
