I'll take the bait. Otherkin is bullshit because they don't make a real effort to live as the species with which they identify. Transgender people socially transition. They commit, because the alternative is too painful.
If being otherkin was really like being trans, you'd go naked and live in the woods.

Personally, I maintain that trans people are the gender they identify as due to the science on the topic. However, even if science did not support the existence of gender dysphoria as a legitimate psychological state, then I would say trans people deserve to be recognized as their desired gender just for the effort they put in to transitioning.
