I'm bi, and have always found casual sex really boring, especially with men. I still get super horny, and the thought of it is still hot but in practice, I'm always bored long before the end. I think you can drive yourself kind of mad trying to analyse it down to the atomic level. There may well be an element of unfamiliar=hot to it, but sooner or later there comes a point with sex stuff where you have to kind of shrug and accept that you're into what you're into, and there may not be an easy shorthand to explain it to people without going into detail.

Trouble is, the fantasy can be really powerful, and when it meets reality it's often a let down.

The best thing is to have someone you can share the fantasies with. It sounds wank, but it doesn't have to mean Tru Luv 4Eva shit, it can even just be an acquaintance. But if you meet someone who can tune into your imagination, you can both indulge your fantasies together while also acknowledging outside the heat of the moment that they're just dumb fantasies and in reality they might be awkward or boring or ridiculous.
