It's like you want to be bashed or something.

I'm a student right now doing pre-med so I don't have a lot of money but when I have more money a handgun is going to be one of my next purchases.

It doesn't matter if I potentially get bashed because I'll just blow my brains out if I own a gun

Just because I wear a seat belt doesn't mean I'm non-stop scared of getting in a wreck while driving.
Just because I carry a gun doesn't mean I'm non-stop scared of someone attacking me. You think about your gun about as much as you think about your ears after about the 2nd week of carrying.

It's called being prepared. You don't need to dwell into feefees in order to look at at why a gun is useful the same way you don't need to get emotionally involved in the decision to wear or not wear a seat belt.

Unless you're a liberal, then everything is emotionally biased.

If you can be so easily spotted as gay maybe you need to get bashed around a bit
do you dress provocatively?
>pink skin tight belly shirt with "juicy" written on it
>cut jean shorts that show your underwear
>brightly colored rollerskates
seriously though i don't get how some gay people get bashed,
did you ask to suck their dick or something?
do you have movie fag voice, vocabulary and mannerism?
how do you get outed as gay in public by people who don't even know you?
>i should be able to look as gay as i want gosh!
sure but pick your places, if you live in south and you act like a movie fag in public you're asking for a beating
learn to be undercover fag, i live in a country where homosexuality is still shunned upon (not in media, only in public by certain types who are out looking for fights)
im bi and ive never had any problems, im lean and dress normally (no pink, no rainbow themed clothing and no skintight clothing)
blending in is way better for your protection than getting into a gunfight

I've honestly never been harder than when I was being roughed up by a couple of qt frat guys outside of a bar in Boston on St. Patrick's Day.

There's a belt in your house, yes? If you have a belt, a doorknob, and 10 minutes alone then you can kill yourself at any time.
10 day waiting periods do more to keep law abiding citizens from arming themselves during drastic times (see LA riots) then they do from keeping people from harming themselves.
>>
>>6782761
But it is clearly not the only way to kill yourself. It is just as easy to jump off a bridge. What about the gun makes it so much more tantalizing to kill ones self? Not trolling serious question to those that do not buy guns because of this.
>>
>>6782761
Depressed people should know themselves and make their own decision. The State shouldn't decide for them that they're "unfit" to exercise their rights.
>>
>>6782787
Generally speaking, the less time between the decision to kill yourself and acting upon that decision, the higher the rate of success. You have much more of a chance of losing your nerve while making your way to the bridge than you do picking up a gun and pulling the trigger. In-the-moment suicidal convictions require the most immediate of means for them to be fulfilled.
>>
>>6782889
This so much. I love the 2nd amendment but I have chosen to not own a gun for my own protection. It would be such a fast and painless method. Now this doesn't stop me from going to the range withy buddy's though.

>>
>>6783050
Being depressed is for weak losers like you who dont have a survivor mentality but perpetual victim mentality.
>>
Don't go out and get a big ass revolver. Big pistols like those are good for range but portability and, if you have a concealed carry license, are hard to hide. My parents have a .380 that they carry on them that have a full clip of hallow point bullets. Sure, it won't reach all too far but that is actually a good thing. If your shooting someone to protect yourself, you don't want the bullet to go through the target and hit an innocent bystander. I personally am looking at also getting a small .380 to keep on me when I get a concealed carry license. Not telling y'all what to get but do keep that in mind

if a person can just go pick up his gun and shoothimself they do.
even slight barries make them rethink suicide.

That's pretty funny. Explain people who have suicidal ideas for years then, I'm all ears.

Also show me proof of your claims so I can laugh at you as I point out the flaws in their methodology and results.

There are plenty of ways of killing yourself that are just about as quick as a gun, if not easier considering to kill yourself with a gun you must first get a gun.
>>6784193
I don't know if you've ever bought one before (clearly you have not) but it isn't instant to go get a gun. It takes at -least- 15-30 minutes in a state with amazingly good gun freedoms, and that's if they're not busy and not being lazy. It's much quicker to go up 20+ feet or buy a bottle of pills, or slit your wrists with something everyone has in their house, so on and so forth.
>>
>>6784976
>That's pretty funny. Explain people who have suicidal ideas for years then, I'm all ears.
"Having suicidal ideas for years" doesn't mean your suicidal feelings are at a constant intensity for years on end. It means they come and go, sometimes being more intense than others.

Since I actually know people who have been suicidal for years I can tell you you are dead wrong, pardon the pun.
>The "less than 10 minutes" refers to cases where you already have a gun in the house.
Most people in the US and around the world do not have a gun in the house. US household gun ownership is only 32%, and it's much lower in other places. On top of this you must factor in that among those houses that do have guns, they are often kept locked up, meaning only the owner can really get to them, lowering the number of people in the house who could kill themselves with one.

Statistical gun ownership prevalance is pretty much irrelevant in this context, since the whole situation being discussed was people that didn't want to own guns because they know they have suicidal tendencies. And if you keep the gun locked up, it obviously won't do you any good to keep you safe from gay bashing while going around town.
