Married couples get: tax breaks, better adoption ratings, insurance benefits, hospital visitation rights, estate planing.
All are huge deals for a community that is effectively sterile, and went through something like the AIDS crisis in the eighties where everyone had to suddenly figure out end of life issues.

I always wondered, ya lgbt people, do ya' hate straights? and why their always gotta' be a gay character in a game and ya' freak out when theirs just men?

I don't know, honestly. On one hand, I like the gay lifestyle of living on the edge and not having to worry about family shit. On the other hand, I didn't really have a family growing up. Sometimes I think it would be really nice to marry a guy I love, have a couple of kids and raise a family in a loving home.
