Elfen Lied isn't really overrated anymore, there was a period in the late 2000s when it was the go-to edgy series for weaboo goth kids and it was liked a lot more than it deserved, kind of like Higurashi. Nowadays most kids getting into anime don't even know it, it's been lost to time and now other series have filled that gap.

The show itself wasn't overly terrible it just wasn't very good. OP and ED were memorable though (Lillium/Be Your Girl).
