This won't happen. ISIS is losing territory at a large rate, Trump is falling in the polls (and Gary Johnson is rising, so even if he recovers vote spliting is a posibility) and the Brexit will have many Europeans reconsider Populism.

Isn't Gary Johnson running as a Republican too? Only one will be the actual Republican candidate, so unless the other runs third party, they won't be taking away any votes from the Republican candidate.

Gary Johnson is part of the libertarian party. Libertarians in the US are largely derived from the Republican party though I guess you could say. Johnson and Weld were both originally Republicans. But Libertarians are socially liberal, fiscally conservative.

Gary Johnson and Bill Weld were former Republicans. Bill Weld especially is highly respected by Republicans. The Johnson Ticket is doing well out in the western states Colorado, Utah, Nevada etc
