I'm not sure what I can say that hasn't been said by others. Just ask here. I never was officially a model with a contract at an agency, though two agency heads tried to tempt me into one. I just did fill in modeling when a model didn't show up. I was an assistant photographer. First with Richard Avedon, then later also with Francesco Scavullo when Richard ran out of stuff to teach me. I also worked some with a number of other photographer that I forget their names. By the time I was 15, I had worked with 9 or 10 photographers, but most of those were just a photo shoot here or there.

As for the lifestyle, there are plenty of models, and others in the fashion industry that have reported on it. Carol Alt even wrote two fiction books that are semi autobiographical from her time modeling. She is one of the many models I knew through work. I last modeled sometime in '82, and was no longer working as an assistant photographer by the time I turned 18 in '83. I was doing photography on my own at that point. I first modeled in '79 a month +/- of my 14th b-day.
