"Trans" and "cis" applied to"man" and "woman" should be no more shocking or strange than "tall" and "short", or any other adjective. Just another quality to be brought up as appropriate to the kind of discourse being engaged in.

Also, it's way easier to talk about those relevant differences when what you're talking about is conveyed via a single syllable adjective that presupposes nothing else.
