I got kameo at launch. The main problem I had with the game was that microsoft hadn't actually set up their customer service in canada yet so I was sent in loops trying to fix my red ring.

The genesis CPU actually had significantly better performance than the SNES, and certain games actually didn't play that well on the SNES because of its CPU. Most shmups on the SNES chugged due to its CPU.

Of course, the video processor was far better on the SNES, so it generally looked better and performed better in games with fancy graphics and lots of colors (ie. basically anything that wasn't a shmup)

This one really comes down to personal taste. In terms of capability, the SNES outpaced it by a large margin, the Genesis actually had very limited sound by comparison (FM synthesis vs. PCM samples).

In the hands of a skilled composer though, I think the Genesis generally sounded better. In the hands of a bad composer though, the Genesis was basically like listening to a dying cat.
