I've been in conversations with trans people where they brought up how they thought it was fucked up that their bodies get 'fetishized.'

I just kind of kept my mouth shut and didn't comment, but it kind of confused me. It seems like there are people who are hostile to fetishes in general, as in they don't want to have people be attracted to them for just one trait. And that's fine, I respect that, but to be completely against fetishes in general is fucking stupid. It almost seemed like that's what my trans friends were getting at? Like, how dare you be attracted to me because of my cock and female appearance?

It's a tough thing to discuss, 'fetishizing' versus being attracted to someone because they fit into a number of categories that you're attracted to/ have fetishes for.

Right, I can understand that to the best of my ability. I was just commenting on the odd nature of fetish shaming. I personally think that someone should be able to be attracted to whatever/whoever they want to be as long as they aren't harming or harassing anyone.

It seems like people that I've met are hostile against the idea of a person being attracted to minorities.

Conclusion? Some people use this idea to demonize the male libido. Some others pickup the idea and use it as an excuse to avoid dating some or all people.

The former will hold to beliefs, the latter may realize dating is hard and everyone has a type and it's cool when preferences (which are not literal fetishes) lineup between two ppl.

I don't think it would matter.

Overall I think the fetishization of us is kinda bad, and not because being attracted to trans women is necessarily bad. It's because fetish shemale hookers or porn is often the first way people are introduced to our existence. It's their first impression of us and it isn't really one conducive to having a balanced view of us.
