Does the Air Force put as much emphasis on the "leadership" part of being an officer when they train their Fighter Pilots?

Does a good fighter pilot need to be a "leader"? Like, sure, I bet the squadron leader does, but what about the number four guy who?
>>
Unlikely. It probably looks at lot like the trench attack sequences of Star Wars.

...What?

>Only officers can fly aircraft
>Officers are expected to be leaders

Navy/Marines do the same. Congress insists that pilots be officers going by the laws they passed enforcing this.
>>
>>35188295
Good. Enlisted can't be trusted with anything but the most basic hardware.
>>
>>35188187

That may be changing, since officers are pulling chocks like a mother fucker, and ducking out on leadership requisites.

Thats why the retention bonuses and base preferences are fucking incredible for pilots.

Same reasons why I never respect pilots, since they're the jewish niggers of the sky
>>
>leading
Having to deal with A1C nigger's Jerry Springer issues day in and day out is not what some fighter pilot planned on dealing with.

Being a commander of an enlisted squadron isn't the end goal for everyone.
>>
>>35188343

I think we just need to bring back Flight NCOs
>>
>>35188385
If you want to fly so badly, you should have gotten a commission. Deal with it

>>35188343
You wash our planes and feed us, no one needs your respect in the same way no one needs a Walgreens employee's respect.
>>
>>35188343
The reason retention bonuses are high on pilots is that it is a skill that heavily relies on flight hours and experience. If you constantly replaced pilots with green shits you wouldn't have a strong air force regardless of your equipment.

I'm sure they get offered more money elsewhere without the problems of military life, too.
>>
>>35188407

Love to see you run your own maintenance, "sir"

Bingo. The problem is retaining experience. Maintenance is having the same problem, its just not as headline-inducing.

>>35188547
Don't mind him, he's just mad that his OCS package got declined again.
>>
>>35188664

This meme is too esoteric for me, you're going to have to explain who those three fuccbois are?
>>
>>35188769
Previous CSAF, CMSAF, and the airman who stopped the France train attack and keeps getting mistaken for a marine.
>>
>>35188846

Boo hoo I didn't read dem books in skool and should of be a Sky flier.
>>
>>35189833

It's also about being white, but, you know, can't talk about that here.
>>
>>35188343
Is it the same for helicopter pilots? Including army warrant pilots
>>
>>35190173

If you're implying there aren't enough non-white pilots in the USAF than I would respond "maybe the non-whites should stop flunking out and try actually amounting so something for a change."
>>
>>35188343
It takes what 2 years and several million dollars to train a fighter pilot? Offering them what ever retention bonus they want seems like a fairly small price in comparison.
>>
They're officers, same as any other branch. They're taught Leadership theory and practice. And, just like any other branch, the ones who are good at it are promoted and the ones who are bad at it are kept in the position until they reach their reserve transition point.
>>
>>35188295
Probably has to do with the majority of Vietnam POWs being downed pilots and there being some strategic/practical advantage of them being officers in addition to muh smarts
>>
>>35188664
How's it feel to know that it a couple decades your job is going to go extinct thanks to drones.

Why not WOs for the dudes who just want to fly?
>>

Enlisted can fly drones now.

at least army pilots actually kill bad guys instead of twiddling their dicks at 8000 feet.

I'm guessing lt cols are the ones slapping their shit all the time like a SNCO would jr enlisted.
>>
>>35191830
I would wager that out of all the branches, army aviation has killed the least in Syria.
>>
>>35188187
In the navy if you're a fighter pilot you can expect a ground job as well. Something to do with maintenance, etc. in the Air Force the maintenance people are completely separate. They think they have stupid buklshit to deal with but they have no idea. Try being in charge of 30 E-3 and below that are making their first trip to the aircraft carrier. Fuck
>>
>>35191864

no shit there arent even any boots on the ground

nice false equivalence you fucking moron
>>
>>35191881
That guy implied that army aviation killed the most. He was wrong.
>>
>>35191842

What the fuck is this program and why the FUCK do senior NCO's and Air Force fags love it?
>>
>>35191894

he implied that the army was actually involved in the fight somehow, not just a glorified training corps
>>
>>35191913
>at least army pilots actually kill bad guys

That implies that navy, Air Force, USMC aviation hasn't killed as much as army aviation which is a falsehood.
