So who's ready to throw in?

>Walther WA2000 WA 2000 Bullpup Sniper 1 of only 15

>Rarest of the Rare, Unfired, As Issued in its Case

>ULTRA RARE, THE RAREST OF THE RARE, THE HOLY GRAIL FOR ANY FIREARM COLLECTOR ... This auction is for one (1) unfired, as issued in its original serialized (matching) aluminum case, CARL WALTHER GmbH SPORTWAFFEN WA 2000 Bullpup Sniper Rifle in .308 WIN (7.62 x 51 mm NATO). This is a legendary, if not mythical, rifle, so rarely seen much less available for purchase.
>>
>But, it gets even better ... the winner of this auction actually has his/her choice of purchasing a Walther WA 2000 in either .308 WIN (as detailed above) or in 300 Winchester Magnum!! As shown in the photos, I have both variants of this incredibly rare rifle, representing 2 of only 15 that are in this country -- most of which are, and will remain, in private collections. The WA 2000 in 300 WIN MAG also comes with its original Schmidt & Bender 2.5–10x scope, two (2) original 6-round detachable box magazines (nearly impossible to find a spare magazine for this rifle), original sling and original bipod (attached to the rifle -- note that the bipod was a factory accessory that was not issued with the rifle in its standard configuration but could be added at an extra cost, which is the case with this rifle), all in its original serial number-matched aluminum case.

>Could this get any better? You might think not, but it does. I also have what is arguably the rarest accessory of all for this rifle ... an original Carl Zeiss ORION 80 night vision scope, as issued in its original protective case that would have been paired with this rifle.

>>
>>35180169

I think he might get that if he went to RIA or Julia, but then they'd get him on commission. Just a straight GB sale I'd say no more than $40-50k or $100k for both rifles and the NVG scope.

Problem with shit like this is only so many people want it, and only so many people of those many people actually have the money for it. Honestly, if I was going to blow $75k on a gun, I'm getting a full auto and spending the rest on a used exotic sports car.

$72k is a huge down payment on a house. Or you could buy something badass like a Viper or GT-R. You could also buy about four registered full auto AR lowers that will be much easier to sell if ever the day came.
>>
>>35180770
Fuck this guy. That thing will be worth so much more in a few more years, the most comfiest of heirlooms for a family. Bragging rights alone is werf.
>>
>>35180135

>wasting money on a mediocre gun just because it's rare

It's not like you'd even bring it to the range either.
>>
Huh, neat, not only could I buy that (after I sell some stocks) but I could fully reverse engineer it and tool up to do a limited run of clones. I know people were spending 5k~ish for the FG42 clone, I wonder what I could sell one of these for?
>>
>>35180628
A house and land are going to be infinitely more valuable than a gun your probably not going to shoot, especially since a good .308 rifle won't demand more than $1000.
>>
>>35180833
Walther would sue you out the asshole before you even got the prototype made.
>>
>>35180770

Probably why he's trying to sell them. MSRP was $12,500 in the 1980's. If we go by 1985 standards that's $29,089.93 in today's dollars, so he's making a return on his investment as long as he sells for $30k or more. Totally doable for that gun, so a good investment but not a great one, considering some other assets that could have been purchased in 30 years time ($12k worth of gold/silver in the 1980's, tech stocks in the early 90's, amazon/google/shitcoins/etc).
>>
>>35180169

seeing as walther was buying these back from owners and putting them back up for sale at 100k this is a good deal
>>
>>35180606
Provided you can deal with a low-liquidity asset, you really couldn't find a better investment than this.

It's only going to get more valuable over time.
>>
>>35180770
> You could also buy about four registered full auto AR lowers that will be much easier to sell if ever the day came.
Full auto AR lowers are one stroke of Trump's pen away from being worth the same as any other AR lower.
>>
>>35180855
if the relevant patents are expired and I don't use the walther logo on it, there's really nothing they can do
>>
I really do think that the WA2000 is the quintessential meme gun. People always point to the Desert Eagle or SPAS 12, but at the very least they fill their niche well with little serious competition (gas operated magnum pistol, shotgun that is both pump and semi), whereas the Walther is just an MOA semi auto, which is basically nothing in this day an age. Literally just fawned over because of video games.
>>
>>35180833
There's no point in reverse engineering it. The WA2000 is valuable because it's rare, not because it's a particularly good gun by modern standards.
>>
>>35180925
same thing could be said of the FG42 repro, or the Liberator clone. there are still buyers
>>
>>35180920
Not much of a /v/irgin, what games aside from the original Rainbow Six is it even in?
>>
After seeing Ian's video, my interest in the WA2000 evaporated. It's cool but as an actual firearm it's built like a toolroom prototype. So complicated and crude. I'd rather have a rifle that actually was designed to be mass produced and used in the field, like a PSG-1.
>>
>>35180952
It was in call of duty

No anon, it's NOT worth it. It's not even CLOSE to worth it. Spend $5,000 on a surgeon, or an SRS from the weird mormon bullpup company, or axial precision, or $7,000 on a Norreen Bad news or whatever, but the point is, whatever you choose, it will CERTAINLY be a fraction of the price, significantly more accurate, shootable, and more enjoyable. You'll be happier that you did, and you'll have MORE MONEY left over. If you're looking to invest, sure... I just wouldn't do it either way, since it's essentially a super expensive one MOA gun. AND it gets value from not being fired, so you can't even shoot it if you're looking to invest, so take that for what you will, but literally go out and buy a new rifle, not this old thing. Over hyped, over priced, over valued. That's my perspective.
>>
>>35183033
If i already owned a sizeable chunk of land and a house and had some spare cash id go for it. guns are pretty much my main hobby. i own my truck and exepct that to last another 15 years, and if i owned land i might as well waste my extra money on something unique. I imagine you could rent it out to cod kiddies for a decent price also. Doesnt matter that308 or 300wm is cheap, theyd pay for what is basically a photo shoot

LOOOOOl no. Maybe as an investment, but if you want to shoot it, no. You want to molest it for a few years then sell it off as a way of turning the money you traded for wealth back into MORE money? Sure, go for it. I wouldn't give it the time of day, though. In my opinion, pic related is the equivelent for a 1MOA $72,000 "precision" or "sniper" rifle.

All of your points could be applied to the 50s 60s and 70s historic racing Ferraris which never ever get driven, then go up for sale every few years and get 10 million dollars more than the last time they sold.

People collect things all the time and don't use them for their intended purposes.

Your granny didn't use the stamps in her stamp collection. She just collected them and looked at them. She overcame the urge to lick the back of them and putting them on letters by incessantly licking black cock and butthole.
>>
>>35180606
Dumb idea if it took you a very long time and you arent in a stable place where it would take you a long time to save that much again.

HOWEVER, there are lots of sports cars that are more expensive than that or in the ball park of it's price. That thing is one of the only ones in the country, and there is no other country where civies have these. You'd have something hundreds of thousands of other people would want, it's one of the finest rifles ever made. If you makes more than 100k a year and are stable rn, fucking do it

First, you leave granny out of this, because she hated niggers more than she hated Lincoln, second, buying a stamp new is an absolutely trivial purchase of an absolutely trivial item, which my grandmother didn't indulge in. It's NOT spending a significant portion of one's total worth for something that's absolutely shit tier in its category, even among contemporaries like the PSG-1 that don't sell for more than a fifth of the asking price of this item and outperform it by a wide margin.
