What a soft looking E-6. He's like a big ol' teddy bear.
>>
>tfw going to armorer school

FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFff
>>
>>35174318
Let me tell you a secret anon. I bought an ultrasonic cleaner, and upfitter's harness w/ integral converter.

so: Clamp your harness onto your vehicle's battery post. Attach the ultrasonic cleaner to the outlet. fill with CLP. Dump internals into cleaner, walk the fuck away. Go back to armorer, and watch them star in disbelief at how impossibly clean your shit is.

Want to know what me and my dudes were doing while the cleaner was working it's shit? Eating. fucking around.

Its 75 bucks for the cleaner at a harbor freight. When it breaks you all pitch in for another.
>>
>>35174498
I was a POG, but any time we checked out weapons, we were watched like a hawk. I don't think I would have been able to pull this off.
>>
>>35174526
Ahh...I was an aircraft maintainer who got sucked into augmentee with security forces. I used my arcane knowledge of thinking to assist. The Armorers basically would blackmail you, they were stuck there for hours after duty anyway, so you could either pay them 20 bucks to "clean your gun for you" and they didnt clean it, just shoved it back on the rack, dirtier than ever, or you sat for like 45m to an hour and a half later trying to clean caked up carbon. Yeah. Fuck that.

So we hooked the cleaner up the patrol vehicle and ate MREs instead.

>memories of afghanistan
>>
>>35174543
I think I'm an autist. I've been out for over almost a decade now, but I still thoroughly clean every gun I take out shooting. I know I don't have to;I find it calming. I never had an issue just sitting there cleaning and recleaning my rifle. I never deployed though. So I only got a gun a handful of times a year.
>>
>>35174565
you should get some basic hand tools, including a hand turned lathe or treadle. Get into machining. There is an odd joy to it.

Former infantry faggot here. Can other POGs confirm that this is true?
>>
>>35174594
>Nah, these here M4s like to run wet. Don't get any of that CLP off, you hear? Just let it coat the brass on your rounds so they cycle smooth.
>>
>>35174587
I thought about getting into woodworking. I work nights at a hospital though. It's hard for me to do run a table saw at 10pm without pissing off my neighbors and girlfriend.
>>35174603
I might have been exaggerating, but we only ever had live rounds on a range, and in those instances we were pretty much always trailed by one of the NCO's that operated the range from when we got live ammo until we proved completely clear.
>>
>>35174603
13D here. Yeah that's true.
>>
>>35174614
>not having secondary shoulder mounted CLP tank to ensure continuous trickle flow of CLP into bolt carrier via CLP mod port.

fucking scrubs, no CLP mod.
>>
>>35174620
ah man, cant help you there too much unless you own a home. Then its easy to do a little soundproofing with some egg crate foam. Just put up drywall after it so you dont burn down your home from a stray spark or some shit.
>>
>>35174653
I don't own a home, but I rent a house. I live literally 2 blocks outside the city limits of my state capital, so it's more of a population density thing. My yard is only like 400-600 sq ft. It doesn't have a garage, and woodworking requires solid ventilation if you don't want cancer or some shit, so doing it in the yard is my only real bet. I don't foresee moving because I like amenities too much. I'l switch to day shift the next time one opens though. I'm also looking to buy land in BFE 1-2 hours away for shooting, but that's still 20k or so I can't justify spending on fun shit.
>>
>>35174683
I'd consider a window vent unit, and setting up a little crafting booth, then go for a nice slow turn lathe. No files. Never ever buy treated wood either. Dont ever work Cedar and you will be ok. Stick to chipping/ razor instead of file/ shaving. Here, check out this video. Its nice and quiet.

>>
>>35174714
I already have most every tool I need for general woodworking other than a drill press and planer. I don't own a jointer either which would be nice, but not super necessary. Turning looked interesting, but I didn't think it was for me. I have been considering the inexpensive harbor freight lathe though to try it out.

I'm not going to deny it. I didn't know shit about guns other than the facts and figures I was required to recite (I didn't know what they meant most of the time). Almost all of my gun knowledge was civilian learned after ETS. The only thing I retained that was useful was AR-15 weapons handling.

Open the bolt, tiny spray/couple drops inside the receiver, close bolt, same on side of bolt, work the bolt 5-10 times to distribute, done.

Apparently you've never seen how some retarded military NCOs do it. They'll grab Joe's rifle and spray CLP through the bolt carrier until it fucking creampies with CLP dripping down the outside of the magazine.

>>
>>35175051
>>35175061
Rules change frequently on who is the boss. Security forces and regulars had weapons and magazines issued, while augmentees at times had to go, get a weapon, return weapon at end of shift because for some reason my issued M-16 was not acceptable compared to my temporarily issued M-4. So my M-16 lived in the truck. Do not ask me why this happened, because neither I nor my co-workers could explain until towards the end. tl/dr: While all the guns were living in the same areas, the guns belonged to different groups who were very, very, clannish about it.
>>
>>35175214
I-I'd like my raifu to creampie me with CLP desu
>>
>>35175524
That shit is so retarded and convoluted. In my (and I think the majority) of deployments, you signed for the weapon once and you didn't sign it back in until the deployment was over. In the meantime, don't lose it. Weapons never out of arms reach unless you put them in a wall rack in a secure building, and you were never further away than the interior of the building. At least one mag on you all the time.

Simple, easy.
>>
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_pgv5zsyok

the amount of it sprayed into the weapons by the sergeant or whatever also makes me cringe. Just the excess of it and the runoff triggers my autism. How is more than a drop or two justified...

It's not that bad if you don't over do it. I think motor oil is a bit heavier than most gun oil as well, so it doesn't evaporate as quickly. You can put less on and it stays effective longer.

Discounting the way they counted the burst trigger resets as faults... the first dust test they did with M4s and M16s was so bad that they didn't release the results at all.

They added additional lube beyond the manufacturer's specs to get it to the more favorable results of the 2nd and 3rd test, which they did release. So far higher malfunctions than the 882 faults (+trigger miscounts) of the 3rd test.
