Serious question. How different are North Korean military uniforms and their peaked caps from their Soviet/Russian counterpart? I've seen recent images that shows that Russia is getting smaller looking peaked caps compared to their 1990s counterpart and their Soviet hats.
Is there a picture comparison of how similar and different these uniforms and peaked caps are?

Wait a sec, there's only like 13 different ribbons

That's what American soldiers look like to Canadians.

I only deployed to Iraq twice and I had as much shit on my uniform as a third world dictator.

They originally got surplus Soviet caps made for non-manlets. Due to their malnourished manlet soldiers, the caps look relatively huge on them. Afterwards they made it bigger to compensate even more.

Ah I see. Well that does make sense considering what happened in the 1990s. Also is this necessary a Russian thing because after all there are other countries with those massive military hats that aren't ideologically or militarily similar to Russia such as in Latin America.
Also is it true that Russia has a new series of peaked caps that are smaller in size? I saw images of the Defense Minister wearing a more smaller looking peaked cap. It almost looked westernized.
North Korean Army peak caps look like toilet bowls.
Their uniforms vary widely based on the rank or where that soldier is stationed (if they will be seen by cameras or not). The ones I've mostly seen look unique to NK, I don't think they've used direct surplus since the 50s.
Current closest resemblance to Soviet/Russian uniforms is probably in the Air Force dress uniforms, which actually manage to look quite nice.
Some of their hats look like salad bowels with a brim!

So only the Air Force dress uniform resembles what the Soviets/Russians had worn or wear today? The rest doesn't even resemble what Russia wears today?
How can anyone think this looks good?
>Those hats
>Those fucking faces

Do the Russians even march like that or even resemble what is shown in the picture?

Second guy from the left was shot to improve company morale by Cpl Pak Yeung, pictured directly to his right.

I've only seen the Russians march with their legs that high when doing the slow and precise ceremonies like a changing of the guard.
Marching like that in a quick step seems to be more a Chinese thing.

The darker looking Korean looks like he is really happy.

They shoop their ribbons just like they shoop their missiles.
Speaking of Russia, apparently according to the website "undertheredstar.com this hat is apparently a fake Russian hat. The hat may be real in sense that a similar one was used until recently but the top part of the crown is fake.

Fuck Russia.

I was looking at the NK march the other day and it is ridiculously difficult. I thought it would be a good punishment who complained doing drill. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w-Xy-220wps&feature=player_embedded

Are you the anon from earlier who happened to have 35mm and 40mm shell casings lying around?

So they are farily similar? The NK one looks a little bigger.

Modern Russian peaked cap is based on Russian Imperial design, with some minor adjustments.
It a mystery even for Russians why soviet caps was so big. According to some sources it was influenced by SS peaked caps.

Russian Imperial army peaked cap, for comparison.

Ah so they are now becoming more smaller. Well at least we have North Korea's Pinochetka peaked caps to look at still.
