What videogame gives me my fix for carrier operations? Preferibly an flight sim.
>DCS F-18 has not yet been released
>Jane's F18 runs like shit in modern systems
>ArmA 3 flight model sucks and isn't all that realistic
>Flightgear is -ok- for that kind of stuff but i feel its unrefined
>Flight Sim X requires you to pay extra for mods and it still wont have weapons
Falcon BMS has carrier ops with Hornets.

il2 1946 has carriers if you're into ww2 stuff

I am more into jet stuff, but il 2 has shitty/nonexistant mouse controls (not enough cash for joystick)

I once tried BMS but holy fuck the tutorial made it impossible for me to learn anything. Its light green font on white background and when i restart the tutorial on another section the text guide is scripted from the same point so even if the plane is on the runway its going on like if it was in the hangar parked.

How long ago? It's come a long way. Being any good at it is still like having a second job though.

Even an xbox controller is better than a mouse. But you can get a reasonably cheap stick and throttle for under $100.

>not enough cash for joystick
There's little point in even playing flight sims if you don't have a control stick. You aren't going to get anywhere near the experience from it.

nigger if you can't afford a joystick there's no way in hell you can afford any reasonable flight sim.

Such is the life in a shitty southamerican country. Cheapest joystick i can find is about 150 bucks and that's borderline Toys R Us tier plastic POS.

About 2 years ago, maybe 3. Did it really became better? if so, i could try it.

if you are ok with having no combat, X-Plane (9,10,11, any really) is by far the most realistic and best one

oh yeah, also space shuttle landings, which is a whole nerdgasm in itself
