Is there anything I should know?

you should know where the trash is

Not really. Hopefully you didn't pay the 600 for it at a big box outdoor store. You will probably want to replace the hand gaurd just for rails. Very, very good basic rifle.

Not bad for a basic bitch AR. Prepare to have people shit all over your purchase, because /k/.
>>
Ruger is anti-gun
>>
>>35128304
What did you pay for it OP?
>>
>>35128366
Bill Ruger was anti-gun.
He's sucking on earthworms nowadays.

I just bought my 1st AR. It was between the Ruger and the M&P15. I got a great deal on the M&P, so got it and really like it. I suspect you will enjoy the Ruger, too
>>
>>35128304
buy some magazines. Avoid promag.
>>
>>35128328
>>35128370
i paid $450 off bud's gunshop
but also an extra 25 for shipping and 10 for a vertical grip so the whole thing was about 500
>>
>>35128424
Great deal!
>>
>>35128424
There you got then. That was my first AR before I built my on. Most of the stock parts (upper, lower, trigger, etc) are good enough as long as you don't need some sort of inflated sense of self worth from owning over priced crap. Like I said I'd recommend putting a drop in rail on and then you have freedom for grips, optics, lights, and all the other goodies.

The gun is accurate and reliable.
>>
>>35128304
>buying an AR for less than 1500 dollars for just the lower
Really taking a gamble with your life man. Should have done your research.
>>
>>35128708
I never spend less than 3 grand on a barrel my dude
>>
>>35128798
Absolutely the minimum needed to ensure you're not handling a timebomb. How can you trust your life to anything less than a 7k AR15 and a 490 dollar knife. You'll instantly lose to Jamal with anything less.
>>
>>35128304
>buys rifle
>THEN asks about it
These are backwards and youre a retard.
>>
>>35128532
Don't put optics on your handguard rail dipshit
>>
>>35128304
Faulty trigger pin. Other than that, just clean it regularly, and you'll be fine.
>>

you're lumpy and you smell awful

carbine length gas system on a 16 inch barrel is for plebs, midlength on a 16 inch barrel is for patricians

t. guy who is gonna put a psa midlength upper on a psa lower with a bcg from an MP15

I have an M&P15 and I love it. Nice cheap beater gun. I've put about 2k rounds through it with zero issues.

I'd say Crockett, Tubbs does pretty well for himself though. That said about half their girlfriend end up dead.

>>
>>35128820
Thx friendo. I'll take my chances with the M&P, though. You can keep your "high brow" AR's. Make sure you don't get your Ralph Lauren tactical gear dirty when shooting, Biff
>>
>>35128820

The truth is, if you don't have control over the iron ore extraction site, and the entire forging process, you're done.

Ruger AR 556 or S&W M&P II?

Just want a basic bitch AR
>>
>>35130646
I'm wondering the same thing. Most people say the M&P II is better.

Ugh.

Dude don't buy Ruger anything. They are a gun manufacturer that hate gun rights.

Congrats on buying an AR but don't buy Ruger.
>>
>>35130684
fuck you, you can't tell me what to do
>>
5.56 IS A FUCKING MEME RIFLE ROUND
>>
>>35130675
Smith and Wesson's tend to make really good ARs. I hardly ever hear something bad about them. Plus they have the best warranty in the business.
>>
>>35130692
I'm your father, maybe.your mom's kinda a whore.

Listen to me faggot.
>>
>>35128373
He wasn't anti-gun or pro-restriction. He was just saving what he could by trying to compromise
>>
>>35130748
>compromise
Compromise means both sides get something and give something.

There is no compromising with guns. Guns only lose.
Fuck Bill Ruger, I'm glad he's dead and isn't running his company into the ground anymore.
I say this as I own many Ruger guns.
>>
>>35130646
Adding to this, is the barrel twist and gas length important for a basic bitch AR?

Is the softer recoil and slightly longer parts durability from a mid-length even worth noting considering it's .223 and ARs are dirt cheap?
>>
>>35128875
I did extensive research beforehand, and I only come to /k/ for memes, not actual advice because I'm not retarded. Plus it was like $450 so if it sucks, my sunken costs are minimal anyway
>>
>>35130778
For a basic AR, you want a good average twist rate that will work for a variety of loads, like 1:8.

Gas system is not as important since you're most likely not going to be running thousands and thousands of rounds through it aside from the occasional range session.
Any milspec gas system will work just fine.
>>
>>35130816
Will 1:7 work with 55gr or should I stick with 1:8 if I'm mostly going to be plinking with cheap shit?

Right now I'm between Ruger and PSA. I've heard people complain about PSA but also heard they're the baseline for ARs.
>>
>>35130844
1:7 is pretty much milspec and will work fine with standard grain rounds, but if you want to fire heavier rounds like SS109 or something, 1:8 is a better all around option, and my personal preference.
It's up to you to decide what you'll shoot the most.
>>
>>35130748
Hey Bill Ruger. Fuck off.
>>
>>35130684
Bad bait.
>>
>>35128820

>jamal gets dropped by your gucci water pistol

poor fag can't a huey with an M60 to strafe the hood with
>>
>>35130916
62grn and heavier projectiles actually need the faster twist rate of 1:7. 55 grainers tend to be overstablized a bit through a 1:7 but not enough to make it an issue. Where 1:7 falls short is with ligher than 55grn projectiles. They come out spinning way too fast and accuracy is noticeably affected. It may even cause the bullet to tear itself apart before reaching the target. But sub 55grn loads are considered boutique and are very expensive. Your average joe is going to shoot 55 and up and 1:7 can stabilize all they way up to 85 grains.

>>35128304
>I just bought X gun, did I do good?

Why do people post threads like this? Either ask us before you buy, or don't ask at all.
>>
>>35128304
You made a good choice. It's literally as good as any of the guns these fags own but at like 1/3 the price.
>>
>>35128304
>Is there anything I should know?

Not much. Only that /k/ is a furry trap gear queer circle jerk of a board that only talks about weapons every once and a while, and that you should pay them no mind. The AR556 is an ok starter AR.
>>
>>35128304
>All these people still asshurt over a man who is long dead and no longer in charge of the company

It's a basic, cheap AR, unless you're looking for some competition or super-operator SBR'd custom AR build, it'll get the job done with little issue and some modest upkeep.
>>
>>35128321

I have one and it shoots great. All I've done to it really is put a better forend/gas block on it and put lefty gear on it.

Here's a pic with one of my shotguns.
