English has been dumbed down and simplified many many times over the past 600 years, to the point where we've shed the vast majority of linguistical uniqueness to it. Does it have some? Sure, you can't have a language without it, but compared to say Finnish, Mongolian, Hungarian, (Latin) and others it's so laughably easy to learn.

Funny enough, English has changed about the same amount in the past 250 years (and by that time already shed much of it's grammar) than Greek has in like 2,800 years.
