True. I worked 9 months at a McDonald's starting at $7/hr back in '04, and did temp work for years in warehouses and light industrial, usually for $8/hr. The money eventually added up. After graduation, the temp gigs turned to office work for $10-12.50, eventually $15 at a place that hired me on at $18 plus benefits. Whenever I get this extra tax, I need to take money out of the company to pay it - Money I'd much rather spend on new equipment, changing things to fit the ever-enroaching FDA equivalent's progressively more autistic and bureaucratic demands, hiring more local unskilled labor instead of hiring through an East European hiring agency so I could pay them fucking peanuts.

To be sure, a lot of business owners lack the decency and would much rather work an easily replaceable skeleton crew to their bones in tumbledown locales with dangerously outdated equipment and pocket the difference, but giving them a tax break to allow for the opposite shows that the government is willing to take the chance on their decency.
Starting and running a business carries greater risk than "just" showing up to work, and is a constant struggle against ever overreaching bureaucrats, unpredictability and long days.
While I won't say *you* deserve shit (because you know you don't), the tax breaks make it easier for them to create jobs for nationals, which is in the government's best interests (reducing unemployment).
