This may be heresy, but how hard would it be to convert a regular turn bolt action to a straight pull bolt action (ala the Schmidt Ruben K31)? For some damned reason I suddenly got a desire for a straight pull m44 Dragoon.
Bubba pls go.
If you want a K31, just stop being poor and buy a K31.

It would be entirely impratical. Suppose you could do something like the Charleston rifle minus the gas piston. Any mosin would be hard as shit to run the action.
BUBBA NO

You would need to completely design a new bolt and manufacturing a new bolt. Take a look at how both bolts operate internally and you'll understand.

You can't. You can convert a semi auto to straight pull by just removing the op rod or gas tube but that's it. Don't even try fucking up milsurp for your retarded idea.
If you absolutely must engage in this failure, do it with some gunsmith special pawnshop savage 11
>add rails to each side of reciever
>piece of thick sheet metal bent over top of reciever
>camming surface cut into sheet
>bolt handle fits through sheet
>when sheet is pulled back, it unlocks the bolt and pulls it backwards
would be bulky but stronk
Literally buy a Mannlicher carbine you fucking nigger.
On my list of "really tempting to engineer for shiggles" is a straight pull rifle in a classic rifle stock that uses an AR-15 bolt and barrel, has a classic looking receiver, but also accepts STANAG mags.
I don't care that it might not have a market, I just think it'd be a fun exercise.
Very hard.
How about a straight-pull AR? http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2016/03/04/spar-straight-pull-ar-15-italian-bcm-europearms/

K-31s aren't expensive

This, people saying it'd need a new bolt clearly don't have much going on up top

DO EEEET!!!

>K31 being expensive
You can't just slap a straight pull bolt on any ol rifle like you can in battlefield.
Harder than the nipples of a blind lesbian in a fish market.
