So, in the TV series Shooter the main character sabotaged an enemy sniper's bullet, is this possible? And if it is how was it done?

Happens around the 1:00 mark

>pull bullet
>remove powder
>pack with explosive
>load bullet back
Look up Project Eldest Son.
>>

"Project Eldest Son (also known as “Italian Green” or “Pole Bean”) was a program of covert operations conducted by the United States' Studies and Observation Group (SOG) during the Vietnam War. The project focused on placement of exploding cartridges into supplies used by communist combat forces in southeast Asia. United States technicians assembled 11,565 7.62×39mm cartridges for AK-47 rifles, 556 12.7×108mm heavy machine gun cartridges"
>5(.)56 12.7×108mm heavy machine gun cartridges

Made me kek
>>
>>35106645
>super hotload it
or
>put some kind of explosive in it
bam you've got something that will probably throw the bolt back into the shooter's face
>>
>>35106666
Yeah, they also did salted weapons in Iraq to pretty good effect evidently. Mortar and RPG rounds in particular were the most well known salted. There's also that iraqi terrorist leader who filmed himself shooting, and then hit a salted round and destroyed the AK and nearly got him.

That gif of the AK blowing up in some hadji's hand?
>>
>>35106645
That's such a fucking stupid "random chance" ex machina
>>
>>35106738
They also spread rumours among the NVA that the ammunition was randomly exploding like that because it was badly made Chinese shit, to make them trust their supplies less. That whole part of the war is fucking fascinating.
>>
>>35106645
Such a stupid fucking show. Couldn't get past 10 minutes into an episode. It's Hollywood writers who have never held a fucking gun trying to do prime time tacticool.
>>
>>35106645
>Remove bullet
>replace powder with an explosive
>gun blows up from over pressure
>>
>>35106870
I've never heard of this, is there any recommended reading on it?
>>
>>35106645
Why the fuck is the bad guy's shotgun's pump taped in place?

Also if you look the rifle has no trigger when he pulls it
>>

Check out the book John L. Plaster wrote about SOG. It covers the history of SOG from its formation to its disbandment, goes in depth on some operations, and even includes personal stories since the author was a recon man himself. It's a great read.

Cool, thanks.

Should have called it Project 'Unfortunate, Son'

Read point of impact by Stephen hunter, he is the most /k/ writer alive and they based shooter off his books
>>
>>35107434
It was in the movie
>>
Is this show any good? Loved the movie
>>

>the most /k/ writer alive
You spelled Larry Correia wrong

Not OP, but the show was absolute shit to me. It was made by people who wanted to seem like they know a lot about guns, but don't actually know anything. Maybe other people like it, but I sure as hell don't.
>>
>>35110734
I had more issues with the writing than anything, as someone who enjoyed both "point of impact" and "Shooter", I found there to be a real lack of substance and just fluff feeding into the next action scene.
>>
>>35106645
> It was the bullet
> Not the fact his rear action screw was almost all the way backed out and his fore screw balls right raising the rear of the weapon.

Holy shit
