In Korea, there were no poor villigers. It was armies fighting it out.
In Vietnam, restrictions placed on SF and Recon teams. Not to mention the implementation of deploying large formations wholly not trained to fight a asymmetrical war.
In AFG, it was a clear victory until about 2005 when the US stopped treating it like a war with nation building and started seeing it more as a political tool.

Sometimes the US government forgets that however mighty the US Armed Forces aren't fucking magical and ask them to go into a place and make people stop being retarded.

So they go, shatter any army that protest and kill retards for a while. Sooner or later things change back home and the government goes to them and ask them why they are spending so much time and money killing retards, and why there are still any retards left.

So the army leaves. And people point to the place and say "hey, the US wasn't able to kill all the retards there. The US can't beat retards".

Those poorly trained villagers are hiding among all the other poor villagers, and makes it really hard to find the two Taliban fighters in the village of a hundred people, so the task becomes to slowly win over trust, and hope the villagers rat out the Taliban.

Also, since the war in Afghanistan started, we've lost ~2,000 troops, most of the deaths probably being attributed to IEDs, while having killed around 30,000 insurgents.

The Vietcong, those poorly trained villagers you are talking about, were all but wiped out by the time the US withdrew. Also of note, the Vietcong were trained, not at the level of western forces but still at a level were they understood their weapons and basic combat. The US withdrew, expecting the South to actually be able to hold its own against a North invasion should it happen. The South expected the US to come back should the North invade. Both were wrong and the North invaded, with a trained military force. Was lost on the political home-front after years and people becoming tired of the war.

What is being fought are not poorly trained farmers but mostly individuals who have gone through what would be the equivalent to the basic training. Again the leaving because of a "bloody nose" that is being played up by the media (who were against the war from the start).
