So /k/, I was looking for old military surplus and since the moist nugget is too pricey for what it is and I don't feel like selling my left nut for an M1 Garand, i settled on the M1903A3. I found a couple for pretty cheap but they're made by Corona Smith and Remington. Should I look into it more or avoid these like the plague?
>>
>>35081839
Remington and Smith Corona should be perfectly fine.
>>
Get a 1917. They're better than the 1903 and more mechanically/historically interesting.
>>
>>35081839
How much is pretty cheap? You can get an M1 for $700 from the CMP
>>
>>35081905
1903A3s were WWII issue.

If OP wants a WWI rifle, the Springfield 1903 would be it, if he still wants the 1903 pattern rifle. Otherwise the 1917 or the 1914 would be best since they were more widely issued.
>>
>>35081839

>smith corona
>cheap

somethings wrong here smith corona m1903A3s are rare senpai.

>>35081839
>A $300 Mosin is too expensive
>A $750 Springfield is a good deal
If you say so.
>>
>>35082077
Are they? I've found a couple for $400 and one for $600.
>>35082117
$400* And it fires a round that won't take my whole life to find a handful.
>>
>>35082117
He said "too expensive for what it is", which is very appropriate for this hideous piece of shit.
>>
>>35082117
>A $300 Mosin is too expensive

A $300 Mosin is a sin against god and humanity. They're one of the worst bolt action rifles still in service by WW2.

CMP garands are 730 right meow.
>>
>>35082187
The cheaper $400 are sporterized and the $600 is all matching authentic 1943.
>>
>>35082192
are they good quality though desu?
>>
>>35082288
Service grade ones. My Service grade is nicer than anyone I've seen for private sale.

I wouldn't be able to outright afford that. I'd have to do payments or layaway or something.

Would any of you fellas happen to know which variant of the lee enfield is the cheapest? I have about $400 to work with

I heard Moist ammo is a rare commodity these days. Either way I wouldn't pay more than $100 for a nugget. Ugly, inaccurate junk.
>>
>>35082498
Does it fire a really weird, out of production or rare round that will take his whole life to find a handful of that he can fire out of the rifle.

When it comes to milsurp, market value is less important than what someone is selling it for. Even in my cuck state you see people or random gun shops selling certain rifle way cheap. I missed out on a pristine 1917 for $450 and I see other guns get sold cheap all the time.
>>
>>35082563

It's pretty easy to find it. Not falling out of every window like 10 years ago but it's not as expensive as...anything else right now.
>>
>>35082555
>I heard Moist ammo is a rare commodity these days.
Uhhhh ok. If you say so.
>Either way I wouldn't pay more than $100 for a nugget. Ugly, inaccurate junk.
Sounds like sour grapes to me but whatever.

>Does it fire a really weird, out of production or rare round that will take his whole life to find a handful of that he can fire out of the rifle.
I wouldn't know how this feels, since I have a reloading bench.
>>
>>35082629
>Sounds like sour grapes to me but whatever.

Not that guy, but I wouldn't either. Almost bought a Mosin back in the ~$175 days but I got a chance to fire one at a range first. Holy shit no way. Would have bought a case back when they were $69.99 though.
>>
>>35082629
I'm wanting a type 99 but I can't justify it cause of the 7.7mm rounds. Do you have any experience in reloading for it?
>>
>>35082751
It's basically just .303 British load data in a different case. Not even kidding
>>
>>35082751
Yeah, for the most part what >>35082845
Says is true, but it can go a lot hotter if you feel the need to do so. Saves a lot of money compared to buying factor ammo as well. In a couple of months I'm going to see how 182gr match bullets peform.
