I own one. I actually prefer it to my PTR. Only complaint is the gay button mag release, paddle release is far superior.
>>
>>35078489
Not op but also interested. It's really very inexpensive and I love the G3 aesthetic, how is it quality-wise?
>>
>>35078489
Can the button release be modified into a paddle? Do you know what after market is like for them?
>>
>>35078614
I really have no complaints. All the parts that actually wear are replaced by PTR for century (re: the receiver and barrel and the rollers in the bolt) so you really are getting a like new gun, there's a video of someone having a slam fire because his firing pin was broken so actually break down the bolt when you get it otherwise it's fine.

>>35078827
Aftermarket is pretty much any G3/CETME milsurp. Id get a bayonet since the cleaning kit works as a bayonet lug
>>
>>35078102
It's okay, considering what competition it has at it's price range. For a little more, you could just get an FAL or an AR-10 and deal with far fewer issues.
>>
>>35078871
How are longish (400+ yards) range capabilities on it? I want to get one as a cheap long range gun/outdoors gun.
>>
>>35078882
What FALs/AR-10s are close to $500?

I had one 2yrs ago or something close to that, it destroyed my brass, I had to have a couple repairs on it because I was retarded and tried to force back the bolt with the safety on and bent the safety bar on it, it was an okay rifle but I have an FAL now and its so much better in general
>>
>>35078948
I bought my FAL for 600, but as I stated in my previous post... "It's okay, considering what competition it has at it's price range."
>>
>>35078928
I mean I can get MOA at 200yds but can't justify driving to waxahachie for a long range shooting area
>>

>>
>>35078968
you can replace the buffer I think? Roller systems fucking mangle the piss out of brass. I've heard its safe to reload either way.
>>
>>35078102
>no paddle mag relase

unless your finger can grip the front of the magwell of an AR, yer gunna have a bad time

also shotty QC. Spend a lil more n get a PTR if you want a good G3
>>
>>35078871
>>35079028
Is it worth spending the extra money to get it in person from a store or cheap out and get it online?
>>
>>35079072
About half a year ago in Florida, the guy that sold it to me told me that it belonged to his buddy's deceased father, and the guy clearly didn't know the value of an SAR 48. Of course, it had some rust in the muzzle device and gas plug, and it couldn't eject rounds because the buttstock springs were fucked up from lack of maintenance, but I cleaned it up and now have a $1400 gun I can sell or trade whenever I get bored of it.

Save a bit more and get a PTR so that you get something that doesn't ND when you manipulate the charging handle
>>
>>35078102
I'm happy with mine, probably put 460 rounds through it

No idea how accurate it actually is since I use trash tula SP ammo.

Only problem was the retaining pin for the spring and spring stop came halfway our and bent into a 90 degree angle, because the fucking tards at century used what seemed like an aluminum wire as the retaining pin.'

I replaced that and have had no issues, besides it being kind of hard to charge the first time if you've let it sit for several weeks

>>35082811
wow I didn't know we had paid colt shills on this board, how are you doing today sir?
>>
>>35078102
They are slipshod Century abortions, broken sights are common, and at least a few have reported other broken parts, one that comes to mind in particular was a broken firing pin causing a slamfire (yet the reviewer said it was a good rifle, in spite of broken parts out of the box and shooting sloppy loose groupings).
I've also seen out of spec rollers on at least one.

They are not worth the meager saving you make on skipping it over a PTR91, which is dramatically better for just a little more.

>>35078470
That's not a Century C308 though, that's a FA91, which, while not at all a good rifle in any sense, is actually an excellent parts kit, chuck the cast aluminum receiver and use everything else to build a proper rifle on a real receiver.

>>35078968
>it destroyed my brass
That's characteristic of roller delayed rifles, but can be nearly completely mitigated with a port buffer.

>>35083759
No, really, HK91 rifles and their clones are widely known for dinging up any and all types of brass casings, the ejection is fast and violent, typically banging the case against the receiver itself (you can typically see brass marks near the ejection ports).

The typical fix for people who want to save their brass from a HK91 rifle would be a Port Buffer, it clips onto the receiver of the rifle and fits behind the ejection port, it cushions the impact of the brass casing and saves basically all of your casings from being bent or dinged to destruction.

Oh wow, shills can make bullshit """""""""""""reviews""""""""""" that don't span anything longer than a week and are apparently considered anything more than an advertisement?

I don't get it, I really don't. If you're so hellbent on getting a fucking semi automatic that farts .308, why in the fuck is the $200 you have to pay for a significantly higher quality product that big of a deal?

Fucked up priorities I say. And let this be known: half the shit in the gun ""industry"" are shills and people trying to sell you things for the sake of selling you things. Be an educated buyer and research your shit. Or just ignore me because my post hurt your feelings and you didn't want any info but just the encouragement of some strangers you'll never meet for your +$100 purchase. Instant gratification be damned.

If you buy shit like the C308, I could see why you would think so.

>If a C308 works
That's quite the IF you have there, Century aren't exactly good at quality control, and they're widely known for not being good at building guns from the ground up.

>>35085595
Any gun that isn't an atrocious piece of shit tends to hold like 80% to 90% of it's original value on average, arguably 100% if traded for another weapon of similar value.

Good luck reselling your PTR for NIB prices, retard. Unless you hit the milsurp jackpot, guns don't go up in value. At best you cover inflation, and still lose 20%.
>>
>>35085650

Too bad century employs drunken monkeys to hammer those kits together for a QC nightmare. It's a shitty rifle and without a doubt the worst of the common battle rifle lineup.

It's basic economics, retard, every item that ceases to come into the market and has a demand, will go up in value as demand increases but offer doesn't. This is especially true of firearms, where many more factors than just functionality come into play. So yeah an iphone 5 won't go up in value once it ceases to be produced, because normies don't give a shit and will just get the superior product that superseded it. But look at mosins. They are supposed to be crap and yet keep rising in price, they are starting to rise in price over superior offerings. look at run off the mill AKM bayonets, once not so long ago a 10$ item now easily a 40$ sell.
Learn basic economics idiot.

>>
>>35085711
>They are supposed to be crap and yet keep rising in price, they are starting to rise in price over superior offerings
Probably because they are not being imported beyond actual market demand, and the demand finally caught up to the insane supply.

Thankfully, this means we'll see less hacksawed bubba Nuggets. A lot of this thanks can be applied to modern economy sporters like the Savage Axis and Ruger American, by the way.
>>
>>35078827

button release... buy a PTR. It's going to be costly and complex to do. At least 200 dollars for a hack and weld and refinish job. It's not a simple mod.
>>
Let's just say that the old- gen century CETME i had in hand left such a shit taste in my mouth i will never buy century garbage again.

What a steaming pile of shit with both missing and broken parts. Took me ages to get it unfucked because CETME parts are fucking gone. Of course i messaged them asking for spares and the jews said, NO! check sites that DONT FUCKING HAVE IT STOCKED I LOOKED YOU FOOLS. And there are saving all their stock to make a new run for jackasses who wont be able to source parts in 6 years. Fuck century. Those guys are idiots.

The ptr is worth it for the paddle release alone. The rifle is really shitty without the paddle.

Had one for about 3 months, I bought it at a gunshow because it had a "stuck" charging handle and it was like $520 out the door for a battle rifle, so why not.

The stuck charging was because the charging handle wasnt fulling unlocking the bolt rollers when camming out, so when you went to pull the charging handle out and back youd have to force it to unlock with manual strength. Not a big deal I just changed out the lever.

Shot about 700 rounds out of it all in all I think and it was a fun shooter, but then I bought a FAL from Armslist for a steal and couldnt justify having 2 BRs so i sold it, wish i would have kept it because the HK slap is fun as shit.

In conclusion, but a PTR for 200 bucks more with a paddle release, the magazine release button is so far forward you'd have to be fuckin salad fingers for it to feel natural.
