I've played the series from the start and i liked AH for what it was. Helicopter missions were crap though. Also not the first game in the series to stray into the real world.

So called purist doesn't even know that their precious strange real was a result of massive retconning and only was firmly established with the transition between 4 and 5. One and two was connected (only by the fact that you play the same mercenary squad) , but 3 only referenced 2 and 4 lifted concepts from 2 and had references, but never explicitly stated they were connected.

You don't need a top of the line processor to emulate well unless you're running pcsx2 specifically in software mode (turns your processor into a virtual graphics card), but even with mine I can't software emulate on normal graphics settings without dropping frames. One nation on not-earth spends all its money on superweapons, massive armies, and thousands of aircraft. It invades one or more other nations, who spend a lot less money equipping one to four pilots with multiple hangers worth of aircraft. The nation that actually spent money on their military wins until they come up against the handful of super amazing pilots. These "Aces" tear through their own aircraft, armies, and superweapons through a combination of rocket pod exploits, banking hard, and flying through tight spaces. In desperation, they line up one final superweapon guaranteed to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, only to have the Aces blow it up and fly home to a final cutscene ending. Oh, and there's usually a story, but it doesn't actually make sense so you should just ignore it and blow up anything you can target.

Honestly I would like to see an Ace Combat game featuring early to mid Cold War aircraft - starting around the F-86/MiG-15 at the bottom of the tech tree and topping out around the F-4 Phantom. There would be more ground to break too for a Cold War era Strangereal.
