the early Fish Gun that almost got adopted in 2006 was flawed as fuck. someone in the army was pushing that shit through for less than honorable reasons.. Everything about the rifle required proprietary accessories. Nothing in the existing Army inventory, aside from bullets, would have worked with out an adapter. the army also didn't do a proper competition. so some congressman blocked it.

the later competition versions fixed most of the problems. though the rifle wasn't significantly better than a M4.

the modular meme didn't pan out either. the belt fed LMG required too many part changes.

My larp senses are going off the charts. There is a 1% chance you are talking about some sort of D-day bunker situation, but beyond that I could put a grenade in any window/door at 100 assuming I'm not on a fucking hill. Because i had to to even be able to use the fucking thing.

And if you are talking about some crazy uber bunker, you would not be slinging 40 at it, you would be calling in fires from about 3 miles away.

Given that we're talking smart Airburst munitions, ladder sights or any kind of normal sight won't be in the picture, given that you need to use a laser range finder and a special optic to set the detonation distance for an airburst grenade.

Make something similar to what the XM25 already has. Shit, you could pretty much build a special variant of the MGL with the rangefinder and optic for use with airburst rounds.
