People will shit on them all day but they are honestly good guns. It just boils down to whether or not the ergos are right for you... Go to a range and rent one if you can and see how you shoot with it. Also, if you are into aftermarket then Glock is like a fuckin barbie doll in regards to aftermarket shit.

What will be the use of this gun. HD? CCW? Competition? How are you going to carry it?

This will also tell you what model to get... All around they are good at most things but master at none imho. Also might randomly blow up if your unlucky.

>Are there any reasons why I SHOULDN'T get a Glock?

Whether or not if you want DA/SA or LEM really. There's nothing wrong with a Gen 3/4 Glock 19 and it's probably the optimal conceal carry pistol.

Just please...don't mindlessly fuck with the internals or do any stupid shit like buy a Gooch TiN barrel like in pic when you cannot group at 10 yards in the first place with the stock barrel.

Fuck... an actually helpful post? Thanks anon

>What will be the use of this gun. HD? CCW? Competition? How are you going to carry it?

CCW. I ride a motorcycle and camp a lot and want some peace of mind
>>
>>35041059
cue all the usual complaints, but for me it just lacks character. There are lots of other good handguns out there that have a lot more history and aesthetics going for them, but to each his own
>>
>>35041059
I shot a glock once. Now I'm gay.
>>
>>35041059
Polymer is inherently weaker than steel or aluminum period.

Making the only part in contact with your body weaker isnt smart, and the glocknade memes are there for a reason.

are you sure you're on the right board, anon?

No problem! For CCW G19 is great. If for are a smaller build or concerned about size take a serious look at the G26 and carry a mag extension when camping and a flush or pinky mag when ccw. It will still fit a light and rmr as well. Best of luck with you purchase.

>>35041250
nice!

My dad is a commercial pilot, and he carries a 27, which I *think* is just a .40 cal version of the 26.

I used that to get my carry permit, but I honestly would rather something very slightly larger in my hand.

The only thing I don't like about Glocks are:
-ugly af
-no fun knobs, switches, hammers, de-ckockers, etc to play with

(maybe I'm actually looking for a fidget-shooter)

Correct, G27 is just .40 cal version.

I opted for the CZ route for my carry gun, PCR to be specific (pic related) and don't regret it at all except maybe wish I would have gotten the P-01. The de-cocker and hammer on it is fun to play with too

DAMN! That is a fucking good price on an RMR! Hope someone jumps on that and bought those $100 Cabelas giftcards for $80 too.

Why do you think the barrel is not polymer?
>>
>>35042104
Because it needs to be able to handle a lot of pressure...

How long do you have to be single to require your *gripzone* to be metal?
>>
>>35041319
What makes you wish you got a P-01 instead of the PCR? I was looking for a CZ to carry/CC.

Yeah, fudds.
>>
>>35041275
Yeah there's nothing like sweeping off a manual safety in a 1911. However, pragmatism takes priority. Glocks first, 1911s, CZs later.

I've owned and carried
>42
>43
>26
>19
>17

The 26 is by far the most versatile of the lot. It shoots every bit as good as the 19. I like the 19 a lot but the 26 can do it all. The 43 wasn't for me. It was far less controllable than a G26. The PPSm2 I had recoiled a bit more than my 26, but was much better than the 43.
>>
>>35042926
Ability to mount a light and far more holster options. That is.
>>
>>35044245
Oh, I was thinking something along the lines of the PCR -beacuse- it didn't have the rail. Hm. I already have a handgun that can mount one so I've kind of decided that would be my home-defense pistol already, and I've put a ton of rounds through it so I'm quite comfortable.

Would you still recommend the P-01 over the PCR for something like concealed carry, or should I go full sub-compact and try for a RAMI?
>>
I won't tell you not to get one, but I will think less of you for using thumbnails.
>>
>>35044530
not him but that depends on if you mind concealing a "compact" gun every day or want to go with something smaller.

If you already have a gun for wearing with light clothing i would go with the full size. If you want to carry the gun all the time and feel a p01 might be too big for some circumstances/dress then go with the rami.

It's easy to make a small gun bigger, not so much to make a big gun smaller
>>
>>35041059
ergonomics is really the only reason. That said, it's a buyers market. Try out a few before you decide.
>>
>>35044590
Honestly, good points. I honestly don't think I'll be able to CC a full-size, though. 155-LB manlet, I think I might need thicker clothing. At the same time, I've always wanted a kadet kit for a .22 pistol just to fuck around. Honestly, I've got a bit of money to burn but gunbroker still thinks I don't live in the US somehow and the the closest places that cell CZ's (And are still operating) are easily 80 miles away.
>>
>>35044530
FPCR is more designed for CC.
>>
>>35041059
What does /k/ think about Lone Wolf products for the Glock?
>>
>>35041206
Are you me?

Nothing wrong with Glock IMO. They shoot nice and are reliable.
>>
Reasons not to buy a Glock.
1) Too expensive and can't find a good deal on a used one in a configuration you need. This is a viable reason now that decent $300 poly framed handguns are available.
2) Ergonomics don't "fit" you. Common problem with a lot of handguns. It might be more common or popular but if it feels like an oversized cheese grater and another gun gives you a hand-gasm buy the one you like.
3+4) Prefrence for hammer fired and/or metal-framed pistols. Maybe polymer framed is for you but you'd like a DA/SA or even a DAO setup over a lightweight striker. Maybe combat Tupperware just isn't your thing and you'd like some more heft in your hands. You aren't crazy, I tried several guns and ended up with a well worn CZ75B as my favorite. Still have a Glock as well, but if I could only keep one it would be the CZ.
5) There is no manual safety. Technically a non-problem, but it's all piece of mind. That's why you're buying the gun, if you really can't get over a light SA pull with no grip safety or manual safety catch to fall back on I don't blame you. You might feel better with an XD since it has a grip safety, or a decocked DA/SA pistol. You're the one carrying it, you should feel safe doing so.
6) Can't get a 3rd gen. 4th gens are a step back. Hideous grip texture. Reliability problems. Weak finish that rubs off. If my only option was paying full price for a 4th gen I'd get something else. Plenty of Glock clones to choose from. 3rd gens are still in production and super common used, rarely used to the point that they have problems. Good savings too.
>>
>>35041059

Not really.
Get the 26 if you want to carry.
Roland specials are sexy af.
>>
>>35046450
>Get the 26 if you want to carry.
I like my 26. It's T H I C C but comfy. Think it's going to be my carry gun once I get my CCL this fall.
>>
>>35041059
Unless you plan on ccw i would get a glock 34 the longer sight radius, the 3.5lb trigger and the balanced weight makes it more of a shootable gun imo. I have a 19 and really wish i got the 34 instead.
>>
>>35041059
op.

if you get a glock 19 make damn sure you get the MOS version. seriously, we all think about getting our glocks milled at one time or another, save yourself the trouble. and get that.

also, they're about as interesting as a slowly drying bucket of wallpaper paste.

>>
>>35041059
No reason not to get a Gen 3 or 4. Usually with new gen Glocks there's a beta test period; Gen 4 for example had weird ejectors that were launching brass in the shooter's face. I'm going to wait 6 months before getting a Gen 5 G19. That's only reason to not get one now.

thats a polymer 80 compact frame, very easy to finish with hand tools
>>

What hand tools did you use? I've been considering buying one of these but I have no experience with a drill press and was thinking I could get by with a couple files and a dremel as long as I go slow .
