The barrel is free floated. Nothing touching it past the trunnion. The cocking tube doesn't touch the front sight and the handgaurd doesn't touch the barrel.

2: the barrel is already KINDA free floated. the cocking tube floats in the front sight post.

3: the PSG1 has an actual free float barrel.

4: the G3 is the German equivalent to the AK. it was designed to be mass produced on a large scale, run through anything reliably, and most importantly, it was designed for conscript armies(Germany didn't get rid of conscription until 2011).

the front sight post is pinned to the barrel. the cocking tube floats inside the front sight post. but it is a pretty tight fit. and barrels do flex when they're shot. so, that's why I say kinda. it technically is, but, i don't consider it, personally.

This. The most accurate semi automatic rifle ever made is the PSG1, and it's a highly modified G3. It always astounds me when people say PTRs and HK91s aren't accurate. I shoot sub MOA with mine. Most production rifles do. Learn to fucking shoot.

The barrel is a lot sturdier than the cocking tube. I highly doubt that the barrel whips enough to make the sight rings contact the cocking tube. It's free floated.

Neither does HK. And depending on which definition you subscribe to the big chunky front post strapped to the barrel would disqualify it from being a considered a true free-floated barrel.

It's an irrelevant point to argue, though, since the G3 was meant to be a cheap battle rifle and is plenty accurate enough for that role.
