Are iron sights now outdated and impractical with the availability

All sights became impractical with the advent of miniaturized lasers. Just point and shoot. And for daytime, go green laser.

Not at all. I trained, or rather I supervised boots to train with iron sights.

I was a rifle coach, not to be confused with a PMI. I was just there to babysit them. At most I would call windage for them and instruct how to adjust their sights. It was like being a range officer.

Still I've seen guys nail it from 500 yards on irons. If that's obsolete, then so am I.

Finally the Marine Corps doesn't train or s anymore. I didn't shoot irons until I transferred to the national guard, and only to zero my CCO.

if you can't use the hand tools, you have no business stepping up to the power tools
in pretty much any situation in life.

if you cant shoot with iron sights, you can't shoot.
